I have a Raymarine SL631 display that keeps re-booting itself every 10 seconds and will not go past the start screen. If I disconnect the power and reconnect, it will stop, as soon as I push the power button it starts all over.

There is a reset hole under the Raymarine lable on the back of the unit that you could not tell until I removed the unit and peeled back the heavy black lable. I used a paper clip and pushed it and hooked it back up and it is working. Thanks

Thanks for visiting FixYa.

Although I'm not familiar with Raymarine GPS units specifically, I've had success with others. There should be a reset button on the device (usually found on the bottom or side) it will just be a small hole just large enough to place a paper clip in. If you can find it, insert a paper clip - gently press it in - and while depressed, turn the power off and back on (while still depressing the reset button with the paper clip.)

This should perform a soft reboot where you don't loose any information programmed in the unit.

If this doesn't work, contact:

Their telephone support center is open Monday through Friday, 8:15 AM to 5:30 PM Eastern time.

Raymarine a50d continuously resetting itself?

If there's a memory card installed for maps, try starting up the unit with it removed. It's possible that the card might be corrupted and stalling the start-up sequence.

My Raymarine C80 CHart plotter won't load.

Check to see if this is a power issue by connecting to shore power and fully charging your batteries overnight with instruments off. While still connected to shore power, with batteries fully charged, turn on C80 navigation system. If the loading screen comes on and does not reset, then try holding down the button immediately to the right of the red power button for at least 3 seconds to see if the system re-boots.

Error code on my RC400 Raymarine GPS 0x4000091 and system is locked any ideas?

It would appear you need to perform a hardware reset.

6.2 Resetting the System
Three types of reset are available for the Chartplotter:
Power-On Reset: When you turn the display unit off, then on again,
the screen reverts to the chart display with all windows cleared.
Hardware Reset: This procedure enacts a power-on reset if the unit
has entered a lock-up condition.
To perform a hardware reset, press and hold the POWER key for 9
seconds.

Hope this helps.
Good Luck!

Motorola Rival Keeps Restarting Itself

My rival has this problem now. The last two I went through both had displays go bad and render nothing but white screens. I only got the first one about a year and a half ago. The only permanent solution is to buy a non-motorola phone. The rival is a total lemon.

Compaq f756NR laptop won't boot.

I think this is a problem with the laptop's LCD display. To verify this connect the laptop to an external display and see if it resolves the issue. If it does then its confirmed that its a display related issue. Since the issue has appeared suddenly I dont think its a serious problem. May be just loose/disconnected connectors. Should be a 10 minute job for a qualified technician.
If the external display too doesn't come on then its an issue with the graphics card and you may need to replace it.

Raymarine e-80 chart plotter keeps rebooting

If you are experiencing problems with your C70, C80, C120, E80 or E120 display resetting itself, or randomly turning itself off, there are 2 troubleshooting procedures that may resolve the issue:
1. Ensure that none of the buttons are stuck under the edge of the display's front fascia.
When the Multifunction Display is first installed, or any time after the front fascia has been removed, it is very easy to get the edge of one or more of the rubber buttons trapped under the edge of the plastic fascia. This is particularly prone to happening if the snaps that secure the fascia to the display are not fully engaged around both the outside perimeter of the fascia, and the insider edge surrounding the LCD display.

E-Series display with soft key trapped under fascia.
You can free the buttons from under the edge of the fascia by applying pressure to them with a fingertip, and rotating your fingertip in a circular motion. When the button is properly through the fascia it should sit centered within its hole, and you should feel a positive "click" of the internal switch when pressing and depressing each button. If trapped buttons were found, releasing them will return the display to normal operation.
2. Reset the display.
Your display may require a reset which will erase any stored waypoints, routes and tracks.
If your MFD's menus are accessible:

Backup your personal data CompactFlash memory card. Please see Answer #1145, Backing up waypoint, routes and tracks on C and E-Series for complete instructions.
Once your data is backed up you can reset the display using this procedure:
  1. If your MFD's menus are accessible, perform a "Settings and Data" reset from the System Setup menu. Press the MENU key, then scroll down to the "System Setup" option, and toggle the track pad right.
  2. Scroll down to the "Settings and Data Reset" option and toggle the track pad right.
  3. Under the word "Factory Reset?" press the softkey corresponding to YES. The display will restart momentarily.
  4. The display should reboot into normal operating mode.
If your MFD's menus are not accessible:
You will not be able to backup your personal data. We can reset the display though using this procedure:
  1. Press and hold down the first soft key (next to the power button.)
  2. Keep holding the soft key down while the display reboots. A "Factory Reset" countdown will be displayed. Keep holding the first soft key until the countdown is complete.
  3. The display should reboot into normal operating mode.
Once your display has returned to normal operation you should check its operating software version, and upgrade to the latest version (if applicable.) The latest update for your model is 3.31. It will be displayed on the message that appears during start up. This is an important update because changes were made to the WAAS satellites and your E80 will not recognise the satellites without this update. Click this link to download the update: Raymarine V3.31 update.
