Hi Trevo
First, check the the paper guide in the feed tray is up against the edge of the paper. If it is not snug then the paper will skew.
If it is OK then check with a torch both sides of the paper path - where it goes in and where it comes out.
I've found bits in the path before now that are not seen at first.
This printer may have a removeable panel at the back where you can check a bit more easily.

Printer would not feed paper no matter how many sheets were in the bin or how clean the printer. I even cleaned the roller. The issue was I just needed a little more tension on the roller that pulled the paper in.

I removed the rear access door (see manual). Off to the left near the feeder roller you will see a spring. What I did is mover the spring to the END of the plastic arm that it is attached to (if it is missing ..you have a bigger problem). If you have moved your printer around a bit, the spring may have slipped down on to the arm and is no longer sitting at the end. This will extend the spring another 1/16 of an inch ...and that is all all it took for me. My printer will now feed a single sheet of paper with no issues. BTW: I put a drop of glue on it after so it would not slip off.

The paper won't feed through. it did one minute then stopped

This is sort of scenario could be caused by dust inside the printer. Dust prevents the rollers from having a firm grip on the paper while picking paper. When one roller has a firm grip and rolls the paper well while the other doesn’t, crumples result. So I will suggest you get a long handle brush and try to reach as far inside the printer as possible and brush (from the back and front). This, if properly done should do it. Brush especially the rollers etc.

I can't print anything as the paper feeds in crooked and jams

Perhaps there is still a bit of paper stuck in the machine from a previos jam? Follow the manual to clear a paper jam. Then "fan" your paper like a deck of cards before placing it in the feeder. Make sure the paper guide is not set too tightly causing the paper to not lay flat as it enters the printer.

Paper jam! paper begins to feed then goes crooked

Please do all the things that you can do before you consider buying a new printer. You can take your printer into a service repair center or computer repair center in your place. If there is nothing that they can do then you can take an option of buying a new one.

Paper feeds crooked and results in a paper jam.

Assume every time this happens something microscopic fell into that tiny pinch of an area. I have found everything from a Tostito crumb to a chip of drywall blocking my paper feed. Flip your machine over and shake it around til the little bugger falls out.

My Epson Stylus CX6600 will not load paper into the machine.

With a flashlight, look into the throat of the paper feed mechanism. Remove any foreign material. Also, look at the edge of the paper you're trying to get it to accept. If the edge is uneven or the paper is the wrong thickness, problems arise. Located at the far left side of the paper outfeed slot, there is a lever to select between cut paper and envelopes. Position this lever to correspond to the paper you're trying to insert

Paper Jam

there maybe some obstruction on the paper path, inspect visually any sign of abnormality in this area, replacing the ink would not cause this.

it is touching something thats why t is crooked, either small piece of paper, dirt, caked ink, or hardened ink on the roller, feeding unit may have some plate mis adjusted, misaligned feeeding tray as well. try this

cheers

Dell 1700 Transfer Roller

These series printers have a typical problem of the paper pickup rollers wearing out resulting in jams, crooked feeds and partial feeds. a quick fix:

take the paper tray out, turn the printer on edge and locate those two rubber roller bands on the pickup arm. Peel them off, flip them inside-out and return them to the rollers. This restores thier sticky rubber side so the papper feeds properly.

Now if you are a heavy printer, you can order some of these from dell for the next time. Washing these in handsaop and water works sometimes too. never use alcohol.
