my laptop dell Inspiron 6400 is experiencing problems right now. It stop and hang and a big blue screen is showing these message:
HARDWARE MALFUNCTION
CALL YOUR HARDWARE VENDOR FOR SUPPORT
NMI : PARITY CHECK / MEMORY PARITY ERROR
THE SYSTEM HAS HALTED
Computer is a Sony VGN-N325E running Windows Vista XP Home. I just use it for e-mail and downloading and copying pic from my Digital Camera. I've gotten this message at least four times. I restart the computer and it starts up fine and then suddenly it happens again. What is going on?

-   Exactly the same error message on the huge Dell Inspiron 9400 purchased July 2007 - running on power. The underneath was terribly hot - not battery area but absolute rear where the connections are. At switchon now can only get a black screen with no option to F12.

From the error report, it sounds like you have a bad memory chip (RAM).
If it's under warranty, contact Dell for a replacement.
If it is out of warranty, go to a vendor that sells RAM and replace it (such as www.crucial.com)

my acer 8.9'' is shutting down right when the windows page loads every time I try to start the machine. It makes a little tick noise the powers off.
