Question about Pioneer AVIC-S1 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Pioneer SX-950 I have had this since 1977. It is in mint condition inside and out exept for this problem. The relay does not turn on. It powers up and all lights work. Tuner is responding and shows signal and stereo indicator works. I checked out the fuses and all are fine. I checked for bad solder joints on the protection board and power supply board. Thereis no burnt smell or discoloration on anything I can see. By virtue of the fuses not blowing leads me to believe that the output transistors are alright. I would like to test the transistors on the protection circuit board but I don't know if it would be best to remove them off the board so I can get an accurate read. I would really appreciate anyone who can steer me in the right direction. I will never get rid of the receiver. I refuse to throw away (waste) the receiver in a throw away world we live in now. It was built to last a lifetime and by god it will!

Speaker Relay Output Switch was a common problem with most SX models of the 70's. It's the switch you hear click on after about 4 seconds of power switch being turned on. It's still avail. thru Pioneer parts for around $45.

How to check the relay in 2004 tundra rear window?

use a volt meter to test the relay. Black lead to any chassis ground point and the red lead on each terminal of the relay. If you can see that the relay is switching power on and off to the motor, then the motor has the problem. If the relay doesn't switch power, then the contacts inside the relay are bad even though it still clicks when you operate the window switch

Radio Resets when I turn off my car

Hi
You haven't provided enough detail to work with.... but
In general terms. Check the wires going into the rear of the Pioneer. Use a 12v test light or voltmeter. When you turn the key off, one of these wires will lose 12 volts but there should be another wire supplying power when the key is off. Thats how it holds it's settings. One wire from Ign Key switch & one from 12v fuse box with power on all the time. So, check the fuse box if thats easier, as wire may have come off or a blown fuse.
Cheers TJ

My pioneer deck screen goes blank at start up after the splash screen

The problem is inside the unit. You have to remove it and send it in so that pioneer can reinstall the software for your unit.

Hello, Where are you when you are trying to get satellite connection, try somewhere open, no where near heavy power lines. If your inside a house, go outside, where there is no trees covering you.

Mine worked for 4 months. Now won't power on

IT'S OBVIOUSLY A CAR POWER ISSUE BEHIND RADIO.
CHECK YOUR FUSES. CHECK ALSO FUSES BOX IN ENGINE ALSO. AND THEN CHECK THESE 3 WIRES COMING OFF BEHIND YOUR GPS.
ONE IS RED FOR IGNITION KEY POWER.
ONE IS BLACK FOR GROUND.
ONE IS YELLOW FOR MAIN POWER.
CHECK THESE 3 WIRES. ONE OF THE THREE IS NOT OR BADLY CONNECTED.
