I need help on making my computer run faster. I got 426mb of ram. But i cant play any games on it anymore its so slow now. Every time i try to play it just laggs like crazy on most games. (ex. Metal of Honor which needs only 200mb of ram, old game runescape. many more) i already ran super anti spyware, malware bytes and a few more. And none of them helped my gaming or computer just a SMALL bit faster. So can some one please help me out?
The pc has...
Too many processes and services running, most of them automatically loading when windows starts. To give you an idea of that, Start - Run - msconfig - gives you areas to check, processes as well as services that are running at Windows Startup. If in doubt on what a service or program is coming from in there, google really helps. I can spend an hour going thru this and say do a disc defrag and disk cleanup from Accessories - System Tools and disable non-essential services, but instead I'll jump to the real issue. Operating system degradation over time.
It sounds like you're a hardcore pc user (gamer w00t !) any hardcore pc user should once a year back up their data, format their hard drive, then re-install Windows. I'd recommend doing that, re-install your games and apps, anti-virus etc, put it EXACTLY the way you want, apply all your microsoft updates, then use ms config to shave down services and processes that you do not consider mandatory, then defrag your drive. Now lets go one better. Once that is done use Norton Ghost to image your drive. Restore your hard drive from the image twice a year and your pc will fly like a new plane. Also I'm not sure what you use for anti-virus software, but some can be a real resource hog. Choose one that uses little resources.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

Toshiba 1805's are older, PIII (or Celeron) based computers. Two things you can do to make these babies run fast: first and foremost is to max out the RAM to 512MB - that will usually do it - as most of the 1805's that I've seen are still running with 256MB, which is simply inadequate; the other, of course, if to put in a faster hard drive (5400rpm or higher). If you do both, these machines can still be pretty potent...

Is it giving you any error or out of the ordinary "beeping" as it is booting?
Usually the BIOS screen comes up if it cannot find an acceptable boot device.
Can you boot from an XP cd?
Can you boot into set up mode.. usually by pressing F1 or F2 on most computers. It should tell you just before the BIOS screen comes up. Enter into "set up" and make sure your boot order is correct.
You might want to reseat your RAM.
Check to see if the hard drive is coming on.
You don't say what OS, assuming XP I'd try the following: Run windows disk cleanup and defrag Run a cleanup program like ccleaner Run a registry cleaner like regcure or eusing If that doesn't help add more memory (you should have at least 1GB and preferably 2) or switch to Linux :-)
first you should go into safe mode and get a start up manager program and stop the programs from running at start up ,clean your computer with all in one cleaning software i have auslogics boost speed, upgrading your ram would help making it faster, get rid of the unwanted programs you dont need, get rid of the unwanted files you dont need and go to task manager and stop the unwanted processes from running thats just a few things you could try so it wont freeze up and it will be faster i clean my computer weekly so it doesnt slow down bc everytime you go on the internet it adds files to your computer that you dont need after your done. Hope i helped solving your freezing problem
hai In ur laptop right click the C: and click properties ,then select disk cleanup follow the instruction and delete the unwanted files like temp files, cookies ,etc and ur system will increase its speed
Here are some things you can do that will boost your performance back to normal. First, go into Start>All programs>system tools and run Disk Cleanup. This will get rid of all of the junk like *.tmp files that has built up. Second, in the same place after you run DiskCleanup run Defrag. This will take care of all the gaps on your hard drive so data can be found more easily. Finally you need some more RAM. 1GB these days with all the intensive programs is minimal especially if you have a 250GB HDD. Means if you load that puppy up your access time will be very slow with only 1GB. All programs load into RAM when they run, so with only 1GB your system has to constantly keep going back and forth to your hard drive to get code and that makes it very slow. Hope this helps and thanks for using FixYa. If you have any problems let me know.
go to your contol pannel and run the diagnostics direct x, it will also tell you what version you have installed on your computer, I personaly don't like playing games on my PC it changes to many things i.e. graphics settings, winsock (tcpip) and so, thats what I have an XBOX for...
