Question about Singer 7462 Mechanical Sewing Machine
I had the same problem....it wasn't the tension. I did not pull the thread through the proper slot in the bobbin. See step #5 on page 18 of the manual for the singer 7258.

You may also have a dull needle or one that is not big enough for the quilting thread to be punched through the quilt sandwich.

It's possible that there is foreign debris in the top tension assembly ,thread the machine and lower the presser foot and ensure that there is tension on the top thread
