Good post = one beep.

Something may just be loose such as the video wire coming from the display panel, or ram. The wire for the video could be getting pinched.

If you don't work on computers take it to a technician. If you work on them and it's not under warranty remove the battery, don an anti-static bracelet and reseat the video/display connectors and the ram, re-do any connections you can, then put the battery back in and test.

Are you parked on a docking station by chance ? If so try re-docking the laptop or checking the thin plastic strips under the laptop where it joins to the dock, that plastic is often thin, and also gets brittle over time so will crack and affect the connection to the dock. If it's cracked you can pull out the plastic with needlenose pliers or tweezers even.

Why do I get a blank screen after laptop boots up.

If you get a blank screen it usually indicates a corrupt or missing driver that windows is trying to load. Start the unit in safe mode and see if it completes the boot properly. If it does, just shut down and let it restart. Check the HDD activity Led while booting. If it is still flashing away merrily it may be a windows update being installed which sometimes can take ages. Some people get impatient and think its a fault and power the unit down where it starts the whole process again.

Sony vaio VGN-A17GP not booting- 1 green light 2 amber are shown

Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery, Remove the cover that houses the memory then remove one of thememory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x onit with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the nextmemory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set itaside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If itboots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and putit into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

Keeps beeping when on

Beeps and blinking lights tell the technician what is wrong with the computer. Count the beeps and the pattern of the beeps (3 long beeps, 1 long beep followed by 2 short beeps, etc).

Most times it's something related to the motherboard such as memory or video card.

Did you see anything post on the screen during the boot process?

Check your memory.

Remove the Power Cord, Open the Case and remove one of thememory chips.

Blank screen and continuous beeps when computor starts up

Count the beeps, they tell the technician what is going on. Normally that is a pattern to the beeps such as (3 long beeps, 1 long beep followed by two short beeps).

Does the laptop post anything on the screen when you hit the power button or does it immediately start beeping?

Just off the top of my head I would think you've got a memory issue. It could be a Video Card issue too.

What brand and model is your laptop?

Lets, try the memory tests just in case:

Remove the Power Cord, Open the Case and remove one of thememory chips.

My acer aspire 5738 boots, but after booting the screen goes blank,, plz help i have my projects to do ..... pleeeez :-(((

what is the Operating System? did the problem just poped up or it happened after you changed/installed something?

first try booting with THE LAST GOOD CONFIGURATION by pressing F8 at startup (Windows)
You could also try booting in SAFE MODE WITH NETWORK CONNECTION, than update your antivirus + a complete SCAN of the computer

It could be a defective component (HD, RAM, etc...) try booting with a UBUNTU LIVE CD to see if it works (investigate from there)

If it's a BIOS password, you need to remove the battery from the motherboard to reset it. If it's a Windows password, you need this CD to reset it: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/change-your-forgotten-windows-password-with-the-linux-system-rescue-cd/

IBM Thinkpad T30 2367 beeps 8 times

Hi,
It's your memory, or more to the point, the memory slots. take all memory out, install 1 piece in the slot closest to the back of the laptop, push down on the memory as if pushing it into the motherboard, and hold pressure while booting.
Bet that works. if not, let me know.
I've got the same machine.
Good luck

Beeping noise and blank screen

The beeps are part of the POST (Power On Self-Test). Here's a link to the Lenovo site that might help you interpret the beeps you're hearing:

Good luck.
