Can the 200watt PS on a WS440BX-based Gateway P3 1Ghz Mid-Tower handle
an Nvidia Geforce 3 Ti 500 Video card. I know it can handle a GF Ti
200 card (which I have had in it for quite a while, but will a Ti 500
be too much in term of power draw, or should it be just enough).
And I also have another question. Can the AGP slot on the MP440BX
handle Geforce3/4 cards (since I plan to put the Ti 200 in the
MP440BX, which is a somewhat older motherboard than the WS440BX my
main system has, and drawing too little or too much current for the
card is a concern). The MP440BX currently has an old 1998/99-vintage
STB Velocity Riva TNT AGP card, and I figure I can transplant the Ti
200 to that system since plan to put the Ti 500 in my main system.

have now switched to a GeForce 4 Ti4200 without any problems so far. I too
have the 200 watt PS with probably the same motherboard. It's Performance
750 system upgraded to a 1.2G Powerleap Celeron with 512M ram.

design AGP slot than the WS440BX, so you may run into trouble with
power-hungry AGP cards.
I would not spend a lot of money on a GeForce 4 for either board - remember
you've only an AGP2X
slot, so a fast video card won't run to its full potential.

The card I plan to get is a hand-me-down, used PNY GF3 Ti 500 that I
have been offered for only $79, still way cheaper than a new GF4.
