Toshiba satellite a105 clicking noise near power supply

When you say that the hard drive works I have to ask how you know. There are not many parts in a laptop that would make a clicking noise. One of them is the hard drive. Is there any display activity at all? Lights on the unit that come on?

Unit failed to boot and observe the followng; - No start-up display - No CMOS boot-up display - Hard disk clicking sound and OS won't start

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power supply.
Remove the battery.
Remove the disk-drive.
Reconnect the AC power supply.
Turn the computer on.
Put any "data" disk into the CD-drive.
Does it display the CMOS boot-up display?
Can you hear the PC try to spin that "data" CD, i.e., trying to "boot" from it?
If it works "better" without the disk-drive attached, the disk-drive is the problem.

My toshiba a105-s4034 will start to power up and the hard drive light stays on a few seconds then goes out the display does not come on.if you do not put any memory card in bay close to hard drive computer...

Your computer is trying to boot up when your memory card is installed. The memory card doesn't have an operating system therefore the computer cannot boot . You can disable all of your bios. options except for the hard drive in your bios settings which you access right after you start the computer . You'll find it by using the arrow keys and selecting boat device options in the bios settings .

Toshiba Satellite A105 PC Notebook

When you turn it on, do you hear any activity? Motors start working, fan spinning, etc…? Try to connect an external monitor and start the laptop. Check if you can get any video on the external monitor. If the external monitor is dead too, try to remove the battery and start the laptop from the AC adapter. It also might be a bad memory module or a bad connection between the memory and the motherboard. Try to reseat the memory module, move it to the second slot. If you have two memory modules, try to remove them one by one and turn on the laptop. Also, try to remove the hard drive and see if you can boot it to Toshiba screen without the hard drive installed.

There is no special button to reseat the BIOS settings. To do it, you’ll have to access the BIOS using F2 button on the laptop start up, but as you have no video, you cannot access the BIOS and set it to defaults.
