E1 is refering to the air filter. If turning the unit off and unplugging doesn't reset it then you probably have a PC board or sensor failure. None of these units can actually detect a dirty air filter. All it does is set a timer that turns the E1 on after what the manufacture determines is average.
Hope that helps.........

You can also do this :

    1. Unplug the unit for 5 seconds
    2. Hold the power button in until the unit beeps (not clear if this is with the power plug out or after plugging back in)
    3. Pull the plug and reconnect a second time. (not sure if you're supposed to be holding the power button in)
He continues with additional instructions provided if that doesn't work:
    1. Pull the power cord.
    2. Hold the MODE button while plugging the unit back in, but do not let go of MODE
    3. The unit will beep and start to operate
    4. Let go of MODE and depress the Power button to turn it off
    5. Press power to turn back on
I think that the first procedure sounds a whole lot like the one I used.
    1. Pull the power
    2. Hold the power button in for the next bunch of steps - don't let go!
    3. Plug the unit back in, it will start, stop, and beep
    4. Pull the plug out, don't let go of power
    5. Plug the unit back in, it will start, stop and beep
    6. Pull the plug out. Let go of power button.
    7. Plug the unit back in and power it up. Set controls to your liking.

    Good luck.........

E1 means you need to clean the filter.

(highly annoying) issue. After 720 hours
of fan operation, the error code E1 will appear on the seven segment
LED temperature display. This error code is intended as a reminder for
the user to clean the air filter

Ones cleaned follow these instructions to reset it

    1. Power down the air conditioner using the "power" button on the front
    panel.
    2. Unplug the air conditioner from the wall socket.
    3. Hold the front panel "power" button down and plug the air
conditioner in. Continue to hold the power button down as the machine
goes through a brief test sequence (fan & compressor each come on
briefly, etc). There is a "beep" sound at the end of the test sequence,
and the machine will be off. At this point, you can release the power
    button.
    4. Unplug the air conditioner.
    5. Plug the air conditioner back in.
    6. Congratulations! You should now be able to operate the air
conditioner normally for another 720 hours, but only if you followed
    the instructions above EXACTLY.

If you doubt the veracity of this information, or it does not work as
expected, you can get it directly from the source at:

My air conditioner showing on the display is E1

The E1 Error Code The most common reason for an E1 error code to be displayed on your air conditioner's front panel is to remind you that the unit's air filter needs to be cleaned. Many models will automatically notify you of this via an E1 error code display after the unit has been operated for a predetermined number of hours. For example, many Sharp models will display an E1 code after 720 hours of use. Alternatively, you could have dirt or moisture in your front button controls, causing them to stick or not function properly. This can be a common problem with many models of Haier air conditioners, but the issue is not restricted to any one manufacturer. Your air conditioner could also have a defective thermistor, which is part of the thermostat.

For Samsung, the room thermistor needs replacing. This is a device that senses the temperature in the room.

E1 error code displays when unit is plugged in I have a wall unit with about 10,000 BTU capacity. Two days ago, it quit working and displayed the E1 error code. I unplugged the unit, let it sit for 10...

highly annoying issue error code E1. After hours
of fan operation, the error code E1 will appear on the seven segment
LED temperature display. This error code is intended as a reminder for
the user to clean the air filter. However, because the procedure
outlined in the user manual does not clear this error code as
indicated, and the appliance has a nonvolatile memory that cannot be
reset by simply unplugging it, the user of the appliance will become
mightily frustrated, standing in potentially sweltering heat watching
the appliance repeatedly shut down in the midst of operation with the
"E1" display flashing.

Believe it or not, that is what it does: if you unplug it to remove the
"E1" code from the display, and plug it back in and re-start it, it
will simply run for anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, and
then merrily shut down again with the same flashing "E1" code.

So you will come home to a hot bedroom, living room, etc. unexpectedly,
and you will NOT be amused, as I was not.

Many people at this point, having put the manual under the canary or
some such, will simply return the unit and never buy another Sharp air
conditioner. But for the tech-savvy and search-adept, I offer the
following procedure to clear the nefarious E1 indication, and obtain

1. Power down the air conditioner using the "power" button on the front
panel.
2. Unplug the air conditioner from the wall socket.
3. Hold the front panel "power" button down and plug the air

button.
4. Unplug the air conditioner.
5. Plug the air conditioner back in.

conditioner normally for another 720 hours, but only if you followed
the instructions above EXACTLY.

What is os code

Good Morning Friend, thank you for question!

I see that your post is listed under Frigidaire air conditioners and that you are receiving an error code OS. In order to better assist you, I would need your model number please. The serial tag, which lists your model number, is typically located behind the front grill by the air outlet or on the inside of the cabinet. Other possible locations for the tag on a room air conditioner is on the front edge of the chassis base or behind the dial plate of the control panel. If you have a split air conditioner, try checking on either the front or outer appliance on the right side of the cabinet. Thank you and I look forward to your response! - Z

How do i fix E1 error

  • Press the "Power" button to turn off your unit and then remove the filter from the filter panel on the side or front of your air conditioner. Refer to your manual if you are unsure where the filter on your unit is located.
  • 2 Inspect the filter. If it is dirty, brush off dirt, debris and lint. If it is really dirty, wash it with mild soap and water and allow it to dry completely. Reinsert it into its compartment. If your filter is worn out or damaged, purchase a replacement filter from an appliance or hardware store and replace the old one.Turn on the air conditioner. Move to the next step if the LCD continues to display the E1 error code.
  • 3 Check for a reset button on your air conditioner and press it to reset your unit. Some of the newer air conditioners have reset buttons to restore the default factory settings. Press the "Power" button on the front panel of your air conditioner to power down your unit if it does not have a reset button. Unplug the unit from the electrical outlet. Leave the air conditioner off for several hours to see if it will reset.
  • 4 Plug your air conditioner back into the electrical outlet and turn it on. If your air conditioner is still displaying the E1 error code, turn it off and contact a qualified technician because the room thermistor responsible for detecting room temperature may be defective.

The E1 code is an error code that appears on the LED temperature display of some digital air conditioners. The error code could mean anything from dirty air filters to a damaged room thermistor, a safety connected to your thermostat that detects room temperature.
