Question about Philips Magnavox 55P9271 55" Rear Projection Television
The picture on my tv started giving a shadow and the vertical looks like it has a wave in it but the sound and the whole picture is there. what could this be.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me
It is probably your convergence chip.
Here is a quick test....
Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.
Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.
You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.
If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.
Here are some of the most common symptoms.
Screen looks 3D
One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed in but stationary.
You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site http://www.TvRepairKits.com . They have put together a kit for your exact model. The kit includes a photo instruction guide, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, etc. Everything you need to fix it yourself.
Hope this helps,
