I have a Magic Chef Range model number 31fn-7 and I need to find out how to change it from Natural gas to LP

You should be able to go to Lowe's or Home Depot and ask them if they have a LP conversion kit. They should be pretty much universal...however, you need the installation booklet and/or the owner's manual. There should be a diagram in the book that tells you what size orafice goes where...If you really want to insure that you have the correct orafices for your model specific unit, contact the Mfr. and they should be able to give you all of the correct info.

We have a magic chef gas stove with sealed burners. were trying to change it over from natural gas to L.P. do we haveto have different orfaces?

Do you have your owner's manual? It will tell you how to convert it to propane and what size orifices to use with each burner. Not all the burners are the same size, so you will need this info in order to install the right size orifices. The data plate on the oven, which is usually behind the bottom pull out drawer, will tell you what the BTU rating is for each stovetop and oven/broiler burner. If you don't have the owner's manual, reply back with the exact model # you have (it's listed on the data plate too) and I'll look it up for you. You will need a small nut driver tool to change the orifices. As soon as you provide more info, I'll try to help you further. Douglas

How can I tell the model number on a magic chef gas stove (with ''T'' clock) that is about 15 years old. I actually have the user manual, which tells me that the model # is located unde the left top on the...

most of the time the top will lift straight up with a few clips that let it just pop up and there is a prop rod under the top. also you can look in the bottom drawer area that is usually where the model # is if it has sealed burners.

Gas range burner flame too high and too yellow.

Did it work OK in that location before the changes?
Sounds like you used Natural gas parts instead of LP.
Lp orifices have smaller holes than Nat.

Convert natural gas stove to LP

Nothing is imposible but this stove was not made to be converted. It is a not a classic crank down and flip model. Your best bet would be to get your LP gas supplier to do it.

Flames in oven are WAY too high! Having trouble lowering them.

Hi! melisrus
If you are using LP, even if you change the regulator settings from Natural Gas to LP Gas, the orifices all need to be changed. The Orifices should have come with the new unit, if not contact Hotpoint.
www.hotpoint.com
Make sure you order the instruruction manual and this is an Oven with Range Top, you will need orifices for all the burners on the range top.
