I was told that the Dell latitude d600 I have is a computer that has recurring hard drive overheating problems and thus it goes bad.... What does a new hard drive cost and can I install it myself??Is there a remedy for the overheating? new more powerful fan? extra fans? operate it elevated off the desk so air can circulate?

Yes, Dell computers are notorious for shipping systems with a minimum of cooling and power, particularly on their desktop systems. That's why I do not recommend them any longer

But this doesn't help you, so I will try to. First, disk drives are easy to replace by yourself if you are the least bit mechanical, and you can usually find a manual that will help you. This is an on-line version that Dell provides:

The biggest problem with installing a new disk is getting your operating system, programs, and data on to the new disk from your old one, but we'll have to leave that subject for another time. You might want to consider buying an external hard drive that matches or exceeds the size of your current drive to expedite this process, and then you can use it for backing up your data after your new drive is installed.

Second, the price of the drive will depend on the capacity of your current drive and whether you want to increase it. Currently, a replacement 40GB drive for your D600 will run you about $100.

To increase the cooling for your notebook, I would recommend a cooling pad like these that have fans inside of them and are powered by the USB ports of your laptop. Cost is about $20-25.

Hope the above info helps! If so, I would appreciate you leaving feedback.

Thanks!

The price for a notebook hard drive really depends on the size that you will purchase. You can search for prices using the google product link. Just type in notebook hard drive. Its pretty easy to install yourselft so dont worry its just a matter of opening a few screws. You will need an IDE notebook hard drive by the way. Although you cannot put in a new or extra fan on the laptop itselft you can buy one of those laptop coolers. The ones that you can put under the laptop.

How do i repair my hard drive if there is problem occuring by showing the error code 2000-0151

Although this says Inspiron it should also apply to your unit
It is the steps to doing a diagnostics report and so on. I have never had a problem with the help from dell unlike other brands (HP for example)

From the sounds of this the hard drive is needing to be replaced unfortunately.

Dell Latitude D630 Laptop, no Bootable device when trying to start laptop, but hard drive works find on other computer usb drive

It sounds like you have lost the boot manager file. The boot manager is a file set up by Windows to stop hackers from getting in to your system and if a problem occurs it is deleted by Windows.
When you try to boot and the desktop gets to POST, teh Dell page, quicklt hit F8
When, and it will take a few goes to get the timing right, you are succesfull a DOS menu will be shown on your screen
Select repair and follow the instructions.
Hope this helps.

I need to reboot my laptop but don't have the disc it's a dell D600 latitude

I've tried doing a search online using the details you gave and I came up with the following page that you might want to check out:
http://www.user-guides.co.uk/download/dell/delllatitude/dell-latitude-d600-original-recovery-disk.html What operating system are you using on your dell laptop? If your operating system is corrupted it sounds to me like you may need to reinstall windows. May I ask when you experienced this problem? When your system was working fine what was the last thing you did prior to your system not being able to boot? Could you have installed some kind of incompatible hardware or software? When you turn your computer on you could try pressing f8 or f12 and this will take you to the Advanced Options Menu. From here you can try safe mode, last known good configuration, reboot etc. I don't know if you have tried these things! If you go into safe mode and this works this will load windows with a very basic configuration. Once in windows you can unistall a piece of software if this is the last thing you did that caused your system to fail in the boot process. You also might try getting in touch with Dell. Sorry, not much help otherwise, good luck with your situation. Andrew

My computers hard drive is making rumbling and boiling noise.

The noises you describe could be the hard drive but could also be any of the cooling fans. The best advice I can offer, unless you are competent inside the computer, is to take it to a repair shop and have them check it out. Make sure to back up your personal files/folders first just in case they have to change the hard drive.

External Hard Drive isn't recognized on new Vista Computer

here are several possibilities
Bad Cable - Well it is probably unlikely, but I would first try another USB cable just to make sure the cable is not damaged.
2. Power Supply - Try another power supply if you have or can borrow one
3. Controller Failed – The Controller inside it has failed.
4.Drive Failure – The Hard Disk inside has failed. Drives typically have an average 5 year lifespan, some last longer and some can fail much sooner. Unfortunately, you rarely have any warning, thus the need for backups.

My dell optiplex sx 270 restarts

Hello!

Here are other possible reasons why computer restart

-- Sometimes this can be caused by an overheating situation wherein some programs require a lot of processing power which can cause the processor or hard drive to get hot

--If you determine that overheating is not the problem, the most likely suspect is bad memory. Trying to access a bad spot in your system memory (RAM) can cause the computer to freak out and restart.

-- Make sure that the Automatically Restart in the System failure section is uncheck

--This can also be a virus or spyware problem. go through your Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs list and remove any programs you don't need, then run thorough anti-virus and anti-spyware scans.

-- Failing or under-rated power supplies can also cause your computer to restart at seemingly random intervals.
