Your hardware can be a cause of your issue , ( A.K.A bad DVD-Rom , power supply or even the hard drive ) Or the Opertional System is corrupted ( A.K.A Windows XP , WindowsVista , Linspire 6.0 or RedHat Linux )

My computer keeps on restarting without my wish

Hi Davis,

I assume you are running MS Windows, which version I don't know, because you never posted that info, but MS windows up until XP was notorious for the BSOD, or Blue Screen Of Death. Is this the case with you, or is it RSOD, Red Screen Of Death, XP and later window versions.?

This is not a hardware problem, but software related.
Windows, by it's very nature is a resource hungry OS, the more programs you have runnning the more resources it needs to run, this is apart from hidden programs running in background, also consuming resources.

The only cure with MS Windows (any bloomin' version), is to upgrade your hard drive and RAM, the bigger the drive the better, 1 TB drives cost little these days, and RAM is cheap as chips, if for example you have 2 gigs of RAM installed now, ramp it up to 8 -10gigs, if your current hard drive is 700Megs, then get an external usb hard drive of about the 1-3TB capacity.

Windows is the OS that with every upgrade, has and is becoming a resource hungry OS, with many failings in it's build and structure.

I hope this has answered your query.

Regards,
Peter

Motherboard Manual for MS-6389 Ver.1 S462 Motherboard

Hi, This is the closest manual I could find for this motherboard. The link below will lead you to download a manual for the MS-6380LE (the other models close to this were MS-6378 and MS-6390) However, it shouldn't be too different. http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=manual&maincat_no=1&prod_no=287 Please let me know if you still have problem with connection. Thanks, Lolita

Just bought a new motherboard and have hooked it back up nothing happens when powered up fans come on notheing else

1. You may have a power supply issue.
2. Try removing the power supply and replacing it with a know good one with the same specifications.
3. the power supply is giving the +12 volt to the fans but not to the rest of the board.

you need to find the manual for the motherboard. in order to do this you need to look on the motherboard and find the model number. than try searching that number in a search engine for the manual. hopefully that will tell you where the different plugs go.

Starts without ram but not with ram

The FSB jumper is not for the memory. It's for the CPU.

Set that back to 100mhz and try it again.

Drivers for MS-6389 Ver.1

Is it a Gateway PC?. They seem to be the only ones that use that motherboard.
If so have a look on their website.
You will need PC model or serial number.
