Question about Projection Televisions

2 Answers

I have a SONY KV-32HV600 and have begun having problems turning the set on. The flashing code blinks seven times each series. I phoned the SONY tech # and they told me that 7 times meant overheating and I checked for dust and made sure that it has sufficient space for ventillation but the problem still occurs. It occurs more often each week. I noticed today that if you continue holding the on/off button down that it will come on. The picture is fine when it does come on. I would like a diagnosis and if a part needs replacing, the part # with instructions detailing where the part is located and how to replace it. My e-mail address is dhayden@cableone.net.

Thanks. Can I check theese parts with an ohm meter? If so am I looking for continuity, resistence or what and how can I identify the part as I do not have a service manual.

My WD-60639 DLP TV won't stay on (it goes off right after it gets on)

You should be getting a light or lights on set blinking in this case, and the set should have a self check if they blink etc---hold menu and input in at same time for more than five seconds and release both, the blinks on the power light should be a two digit code like three blinks, seven blinks which is 37 Let me know what if any code you find.

If you unplugged the set during this time it will clear the errors so you have to try to turn it on again, let it fail and do the check again.

Sony crt tv (KV-BZ14M70) led blinking four times in stand by mode, so it means?

Hi Ullah,

LED blinks four times on KV series means that the Vertical deflection circuitry encountered a problem. You can repair it yourself if you have knowledge in electronics, knowledgeable in soldering and desoldering of parts on the board.

MY SONY PROJECTION TV DOESN'T WORK. IT BLINKS 10 TIME (RED BLINKS) AND PAUSES FOR short time and then it blinks again ten times and so on

I prefeer you go to a tech with this problem beacause of highvoltage. Your problem is siple though the red light flash is an error code that means your bulb is blown in your set. This is the bulb that illuminates your screen. Bulb cn cost up to a $100.00 for one so please shop around if you are a do it yourselfer. Once again I stress please take it to a tech if you are not electronic savvy

Replaced bulb on sony KDF-42WE655, When power turns on then turns off with 3 flashs of red light continuouis?

SD Tech,
With your kind permission if I may provide info...
3 times red light blinking shows that lamp cover has not been fixed in its place securely after lamp replacement.
Make sure lamp cover, its the first plastic cover that was removed to replace lamp, is back in its position properly then turn On tv.
This plastic lamp cover engages safety micro switch inside tv cabinet.

Hi,
Flashing standby light is an error code that is specific, there would be pause of 3 seconds in flashing, so count pause to pause and let me know that how many times red standby light is blinking to diagnose problem.
Thanks.

Hello,

7X blink is a generic Horizontal Deflection Stop code. There is a chip in the TV, IC8005 or 8006 if I'm correct, that routinely goes bad on these sets. It could be one of any number of transistors or IC's, but that one is usually the culprit.

The chip itself is around 40 dollars, and with labor, you're looking at about 125-175 average, barring any unforseen problems. That's in-shop. Tack on a service call charge if it is in-home (if anyone will do that for you).

Hope this helps you...

Sony Projection Tv Model KP-51HW40

With both of error codes flashing, the problem is trying to figure out wich one to focus on. The flashing 6 code is an indication of HV failure which would then cause a vertical failure(4 blink code). There are so many things that would cause this problem. I can narrow it down to the "D" board to fix your problem. If I were there to troubleshoot it, I could narrow it down further I.E. flyback, HV distribution block. I suggest getting a tech diagnose the exact problem. I wish I could narrow it down better for you. Please take time to rate this solution and if I can be of further assistance, let me know

I will need to know the model number of your set to help you as well as if the light blinks a certain number of times in between pauses. Please respond to this same post.
