My 2yr old hit the screen, nothing cracked but the screen has lines straight up the side and across the bottom. It spiders out from the spot where he hit it with something. No cracks, but webbing out from the point of impact

Yes there is glass in a touchpad- the fact that you have spider webs indicated that part of the LCD has cracked- and it could have been at the factory with a small defect that finally broke. I would approach your provider from that angle.

I hate to be the bearer of this news...but the LCD panel is cracked and ruined. Probably will NOT be worth repair. I have one in my garage JUST Like this, only a few months old, Samsung,and it looks FINE, until it is powered and then you see the "spider web" pattern.

Keep this in mind in the future..flat panel sets are MUCH, MUCH easier to break than the "old fashioned" CRT Sets, that you REALLY had to try and break. A minor "tap", less than needed to break a window, is ALL that is needed to kill an LCD OR plasma set.

Unfortunately the screen has been damaged beyond repair & will need to be replaced. The cost a new screen of this size will be almost he same as buying a new TV. As it was accidental damage & if you have home contents insurence try to make a claim for the damage.

try remove your screens and clean it
if notwork your engblock is bad

could be pressure damage from objects at it, hard to say, usually the glass would have spider cracks around each presure spots, but LCD is soft so the pressure damage explains what happened.
If the spots are near the bottom the liquid may have crept upward from the edge , try a hair dryer on a spot and see if it changes indicating liquid is still in there.

It would be better to buy a new one, the cost of the panel is a little bit lower than a new TV, but you have to take into consideration the tech to swaap the panel.

I know my response is a while after you asked, but to clean the inside of the tv case is pretty simple.

Remove the bottom speaker cover...on this model you just pull it off. There is no clips or screws.

Once the speaker cover is off you will see the bottom of the screen, there is 4-5 screws on the bottom on each side....I think 4 in the gray plastic and 1 in a black metal strap. With all of those screws out pull out SLIGHTLY on the screen and push up. The top is held in with a down force clamp and you are just popping it out of that....It will pop back in once you are done.

Now clean the back side of the screen, the mirror and CAREFULLY dust off the lenses. I myself did not want to use any cleaners (to avoid streaking) so I used a new microfiber dusting cloth. My picture became brighter and the "crack" that I thought I had was just a dust web....

If you have not yet fixed this and haven't trashed the set I may have a solution.

I have a 50HP66 that has a good screen but bad sustain boards.

I will buy the boards from you...Easy to remove. Then you can use that money to buy a new TV.

Fixing a cracked screen is not practical. IE. Replacing the whole screen.

These sets are made to be sent to the land fill when the warranty is up.

Maybe we should have our lawmakers force companies to have minimum warranties for large toxic products that end up in the trash. Then they might make them last more than a year.

Uh yah, I don`t think I`ve ever heard of that.
