Question about Gateway GT4022 PC Desktop

Gateway GT 4022

I do tech support for our small church and our Pastor's GT 4022 "died" on June 30th or there abouts. His symptoms sound very similar to yours. Brief reboots with flashes of video and then NOTHING!

Would love to repair CPU but most importantly need to recover data from hard drive. Seems the only way will be to get PC repaired or find another working GT4022 to put hard drive in. His user folder is "access denied" due to log-in with username and password to XP Media Edition.

If you have developed a solution, then PLEASE share!

Are we talking about,
1) Intel Core2 Duo E6550, which has a maximum frequency rate, ('Speed'), of 2.33GigaHertz?

4MegaByte of L2 Cache, 1333MegaHertz Front Side Bus?
(4MB L2 cache / 1333MHz FSB)
Based on the Conroe Core technology, and the 65nanometer architecture? 0.85Volts to 1.50Volts - voltage range?

2) Intel Core2 Quad Q9550, which has a maximum frequency rate of 2.83GHz?

2 times 3MB of L2 Cache, 1333MegaHertz FSB, Voltage range - 0.85 Volts to 1.3625 Volts?
Based on the Yorkfield-6M Core technology, and the 45NanoMeter architecture?

Don't know.

I just look at what motherboard chipset is used, then if it will support both a Dual Core, and a Quad Core; I look at the voltage range, and core technology/architecture.

So we are talking about a Gateway GT5692?

Ha! So we are NOT talking an Intel CPU! (Processor)
Apparently not discussing a Gateway GT5692 Desktop PC, either.

What desktop computer are we talking about Virgil, and what is the motherboard chipset?

I cant get sound on my emachine c6415.

Driver: Small piece of software that allows the Operating System to communicate with a device

The device is the audio chipset, and WinXP is the O/S.

All you should have to do is download AND install the audio driver.

eMachines Support > eMachines C6415 Desktop PC > Main Support page,

Automatically opens to the Drivers tab.

Click on the blue - Audio Driver. The first file listed.
A small window will come up -

Make SURE the small circle to the left of Save File, has a Green dot in it.
IF not; click in the small circle to the left of Save File.
Now go below in the small window, and click on OK.

A small download window will come up.
Allow the file to fully download, then DOUBLE-click right on it.
If Microsoft 'squawk boxes' come up, ignore them, and click on OK, and Run.

In the next small window go to the far left, and click on -
Extract all files.

At the bottom of the next 3 small windows, click on Next, Next, and Finish.

If you are not prompted to restart your computer, do so.

You may have also lost the Volume icon, down in the taskbar.
(System tray. Down where the time is)

Click on;
Start > Control Panel > Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices > Sounds and Audio Devices

In the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties window, go to the middle where it states -> Device volume <- in blue.

Click on the small square to the left of -
Place volume icon in the taskbar

No go below to the Right, and click on Apply.
Then go below to the Left, and click on OK.

I had to do a system recovery on my GX7018E and now the ethernet driver is gone and I can't hookup to the internet. I have tried to download the driver on my laptop then put it on a memory stick...

Gateway Support > Gateway GX7018e desktop computer > Drivers download page,

Scroll down to the heading Lan
Left-click on - Marvell Yukon 88E8050 PCI-E A SF Gigabit Ethernet Controller Drive

In the small window that comes up, (Opening,
make sure the Save File circle has a green dot in it.
If not left-click in the empty circle to the left of Save File.
Now click on OK below.

Another small window will come up.
Write down the heading. This tells you where the file will be saved to.
(File name is, with a yellow zip folder icon)

In the heading may be Desktop, or My Documents, or Downloads.
(Desktop, Documents, Downloads for Vista, and Win7)

1) Desktop: It will be on your desktop screen. (Yellow Zip folder with the file name)

2) My Documents: Start > My Documents (Or windows logo button > Documents)

3) Downloads: Start > My Documents > Double-click on Downloads
(Or windows logo button > Documents > Double-click on Downloads)

When you see the file name Double-click right on it.

In the small window left-click on Unzip
In the next window left-click on Extract All Files, on the left side.

Now follow the Installation Wizard instructions.
(Essentially just left-click on Next, Next, and Finish at the bottom. Windows will put the file in the proper place)

If you are not asked to restart your computer, do so.

When i turn on my pc only the motherbroad green light comes on nothing else no fan are anything what could be the problem

1. You possibly will need to replace the power supply.
Hard to determine here with out physically seeing the PC but I 'm 90% sure it is the power supply not supplying proper voltage to the system board and hard drive. You will need a tech to check the voltage at the mother board inputs. You should have -12,+12,-5,+5 at key socket points

Could this be motherboard


This sounds like the USB ports on your system board have failed, one thing that you can do is go into the control panel

Start > control panel > System >> Hardware tab at the top> Device Manager button

See if you have any items with a disabled (red no icon) icon beside them, if not or you so no usb ports in here at all the board is probley failed.

Programs shut down at random

Have you checked in your case to see if all your fans are working? May be a heat problem in power supply, CPU. Get this software and install to check the actual temps on your motherboard.

This is the free program I use.

Send them an email with model number from tag at the back of the computer and ask for recovery CD.

2002 gateway profile shutdown problem

You need to uninstall the graphic drivers for the card and install new ones from the makers site.

This can be done in device manager by right clicking in the display adapter and then uninstall. Then reboot and install the new up to date ones. Sounds like the ones you have in now are damaged or corrupt.

Doesnt explain the slowdown though sorry :(
