Hey, david I think that your magnet is probably loose. I think that the solution is call microsoft tell them your problem and they might know how to fix this problem, if not tell them if they can ship a box so you can send your xbox console so they can fix your problem. If not another solution is that if you have warranty get a new xbox and hold on to your hard drive so you wont lose all your memory. If you have any other question email me at datniggawilly@Yahoo.com or send me a message here at fixya.com

My digidoor 1000n motor recently did not close all the way leaving a gap of about 60 mm and yesterday the gap seemed a bit bigger more like 100 mm how do i set it to close fully

on the rail there should be 2 cylindrical black magnetic read switches with white wires connected to them.
Those are the open and close distance units
sometimes they come loose and move with the vibration of the motor when opening the door

What caused a black screen

I had the same problem. While rebooting the laptop the screen would be on for a few seconds after it finished rebooting then the display would go black. If you looked very carefully at the screen you could see the image was there but there was no light behind the screen to make the image visible.

I removed the black plastic display bezel cover that goes around the edge of the display screen to check out the lights and wiring. I found a small magnet that belongs inside the display bezel had fallen out of it's slot in the plastic bezel and was stuck to the inverter pcb (printed cicuit board). To fix this problem I secured the magnet into it's slot inside the display bezel with a bit of glue. After fixing the problem and putting the display bezel back together the laptop worked normally.

The magnet could possibly fall out if the laptop was closed and upside down then dropped on a hard surface. Mine did not feel very secure in the mounting slot which is why I secured it with glue.

This magnet is how the laptop knows the lid is closed. When the laptop is closed the magnet is moved closer to a magnetic switch on the inverter pcb and activates the switch. The laptop thinks it is closed and shuts off the lights behind the display screen. When the magnet fell out of it's slot and stuck to the inverter it activated the magnetic switch all the time whether the laptop was open or closed. This caused the laptop to think it was closed and shut off the lights behind the dispaly screen as soon as the reboot finished.

Screen goes black after plugging in charger.

I had problems with my laptop also. My screen would go black, backlight, I could see my screen if I shined a flashlight on the screen. If I opened the screen quickly I could get it to turn back on.
I replaced the inverter board, as mine was a cfl back light for a lcd. Inverter was weak. That helped but I still had some problems with screen not turning on. I found that I had a magnetic lid close switch. I took a magnet and ran it around the edge of the laptop until I located the switch, would turn off the screen. I rubbed circles with the magnet above the switch, med powered magnet from a magnetic screw holder bowl. So far my laptop shut off problem seems to be fixed. Working very well.
Before I ran the magnet over the switch my computer would also shut off when I pulled out the AC plug. Stopped after magnet. I think something gets magnetized and causes problems and magnet corrects problem. You might try this, couldn't hurt.

I have the SC272TB Double Oven. The top oven is fine but the lower one will not stay closed. Whether baking or not, the door seems to pop open just enough to turn the light on. We walk by and press the...

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Yes this has been a fairly common issue with the Thermador wall ovens as well as their freestanding ranges.

Typically the remedy will be replacing the hinges, but there is a "fix" you can attempt in the interim. At least in hope of keeping the oven light from being on all the time, hence damaging the control board which houses the oven lights transformer.

The issue with those Thermador wall oven and freestanding range doors ( especially on the freestanding "professional" line ) is the weight of the door is so great, the hinge will actually move slightly over time, other times the entire hinge will need to be replaced.

This is what I'd recommend ( also official Thermador remedy, rest assured as I am a authorized factory trained Thermador service provider ) before pronouncing the hinges need replacing though.

**This does require a somewhat involved repair, so if you don't feel completely comfortable or have any reservation to trying this, please call in an local authorized Thermador ( B/S/H/ ) service provider.**

Recommendation: Adjust the door box hinge per instructions below.

1. Pull the oven away from the wall about 12".

2. Remove the hinge box cover plates.

3. Remove the vertical side trim piece. It covers one of the screws that must be loosened.

4. Loosen the 4 screws that secure the hinge box.

5. Place a rolled up dishtowel at the bottom of the door and close the door and apply light pressure to the door while re-tightening the four screws.

See fig below

6. Re-install the hinge box covers & side trims.

7. Re-install and secure the oven.

That should do it, ( or as stated, improve the situation ) if the hinges are too far gone they will need to be replaced unfortunately.

Let me know if you require further assistance or if indeed this solved your problem.

Thank you for choosing FixYa today and good luck going forward.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

The disk door takes forever to stay closed and read the disk. It keeps opening and closing for 10 minutes or so before it will read the game. Thanks!

This is more than likely a drive motor fault, whats happening is when the motor wears it has not got the strength to connect with the magnet so it just opens the tray again, to see if this is the problem, lay the console down, turn it on when it says reading give it a rap (don't go mad) with your knuckles where the middle of the disk would be, if it loads that's your problem.
It could also be a magnet issue, sometimes the magnet comes loose off the motor and needs gluing back on, either of these need the console opening to repair.
Remember thumbs up if this helps.

Car won't start when security light is blinking

Vehicle anti-theft (VAT) system is not getting proper reading from the ignition switch. Your key has a resistor built into the head of the key (a silver bar on a black backing). Shine up this bar with some fine steel wool on both sides of the key. Possibly the wiring in the steering column that leads to the VAT module has gone bad or the connections in the ignition switch that mate up with the key's resistor no longer connect properly. End result: the starter and fuel injection system remain dead when all else seems normal............Security light on dash will stay on/flashing. There will be a 3 minute dead/reset period between each unsuccessful start attempt.
