We have this machine that we purchased in Italy in 1995 and it heats (left button) and steams but I can't get the water to pump (right button) through the coffee to go into the cups. Makes a loud clicking sound. Any idea what is wrong and where I can go to have it repaired? Thanks.

Obviously you have problem with non return valves at the pump, they are built inn the pump.

  • Remove the filter holder, open the steam valve and command brewing coffee. If water comes from steam valve close it> continue brewing and wait the water from coffee group. After this procedure test it with coffee.
  • If testing with coffee is successful you may work with that pump but always be careful to not leave empty water container.
  • If testing isn't successful you need to change the vibration pump.

Hi Descaling the Palazzo: The Palazzo is programmed to descale the boilers on its own, when set in the correct mode. You program the machine to descale it's self, do the following. With the machine turned on, push and hold the left 2 buttons (clean and pre-ground). This should light the top right red indicator light. Mix your descaling crystals in 32 to 48 oz in your water tank. Stir until they are completely dissolved in the water. Next, have a container that can handle about 2 quarts of water under the steam wand, or have the machine positioned next to a sink. Next open the steam knob on the right side of the machine. You should hear the pump turn on and pump about 2 to 3 oz's. of water through the wand into the container. The pump should turn off and there will be a wait of about 2 minutes. The pump should turn on again and more water will come out. It will do this until it has completely drained the water tank. Do not interrupt this cycle until the machine has stopped on its own. When it does stop, all lights on the bottom will flash. Rinse out the water tank and refill with fresh water. Place the water tank on the machine again, and then close, and then open the steam knob again and let the water just flow through the boilers until it is emptied by the machine. Don't turn off anything until the machine stops on its own. This will clear the descale light. Refill the water tank again with fresh water and push the water button on the right. It will light(very dim), then open the steam knob again/ The red light will go out and it will start to heat and your ready to go.

Gaggia Titanium bought new in Italy. tested it to make coffee ALL OK. tested to see if steam came out and it did. Took it on a plane with me plugged it in coffe good but steam does not come out for...

When you twist the steam knob all the way, it actuates an electrical switch. The first part of the turn just opens a mechanical valve to allow the steam or water to come out but doesn't turn on the heater nor does it start the pump. You need to turn it far enough to trip the electric switch that starts the heat and the pump.

If it still isn't working, then perhaps the switch was knocked loose when it was taken on the plane.

Gaggia Titanium. Fault suggests ventilation required. Followed manual instructions, nothing happens. Tried rinsing, nothing happens. Tried hot water nothing happens? Have taken out and cleaned all pbvious...

Do you hear the pump working but no water flows?

You should select hot water (the third button from the right) and the display should say "hot water" at the same time it is saying VENTILATE --- open the steam valve all the way and the pump should start and you should see water from the steam wand.

If you don't hear the pump at all, then that is a different problem.

If you do hear the pump but still don't get any water with the steam valve open, then you need to prime the pump by using a turkey baster or the accordian pump that came with the Titanium to pump water into the valve where water from the tank goes. Remove the tank and use the turkey baster to pump water into that valve while the pump is running and the steam valve is open all the way with HOT WATER selected. the second water starts to come out the steam valve you want to stop the pump (turn the power off or turn the steam knob shut) and put the water tank back on and make sure there is plenty of water in the tank - then start the pump again by opening the steam valve all the way and let it pump water out the steam wand for a few minutes.

Solis Palazzo coffee coming out weak & cold, water from nozzle is hot! Any ideas??

HI
There could be other things wrong but usually when the water temp goes down, its because you are starting to get scale build up in the boiler. This insulates the water from the heat. What do you have your water hardness set on. It should be set on the max, with all the lights lit. Check it by pushing and holding the small cup and water buttons. While holding them down, turn on the machine. Release the buttons and your ready to program the machine. Water hardness. The pre-ground button sets the water hardness. Push the pre-ground button (scoop) and the lights at the top of the panel should light up one at a time from left to right.. Always set the hardness to the max. Turn on all the lights on top. The machine will tell you when to descale. It’s better to descale more often than not enough.

Same problem with my classic gaggia.

Hi Marc

Just bought one this week with exactly the same problem. As a last resort I opened it up to find the pump had come off the rubber support kinking the pipes beneath so no water could get in.

Undo the 2 philips screws on the top, take off the lid and water filler spout and take look. Looking down from the front of the machine, the pump is at the back to the left. If it's just floating in space as mine was, simply push it gently back into the rubber support beneath making sure you don't kink the pipes.

Mine came by DHL from Italy with no right side up marked on the box, so no wonder it came loose!

Hope this fixes it.

Matt

ECM Giotto Premium (S/N 20030100413, purchased May 2003)

Well, I just spoke with the repair tech where I originally purchased my Giotto Premium 4 years ago. He knew exactly what the problem was when I described it... power light on, clicking noise (not remedied by a hard boot), water not coming out of the grouphead, not heating up etc. Apparently, this is a common problem, but is not the heating element; it's the relay box costing about $200 from GCM in Italy. Trying to ventilate and hot water not flushing through on button 26

Before you press water button to vent you need to restore to factory settings.

First press menu (far right button) then toggle to restore factory settings (using far left button), press menu button then far right again until yes comes up, then press menu button. Press esc button (3rd from left), machine should now be back to normal. Then press water button (3rd from right) and turn steam knob to vent until free water is coming through.

This is the only way I could get mine to work!

Makes espresso, coffee, water, but will not steam

The pump has gone bad - through use. This is a common problem, and has to do with the "seals" that are in the pump. Since the pump generates high pressure and heat, over time, the seals will fail, and will be unable to generate enough pressure and heat to create steam. The only remedy is to have the pump replaced through the Breville Out of Warranty repair centers.
