Question about Brother MFC-9420CN All-In-One Laser Printer

Error Message "Check Tray #1 - Reinstall Tray"

I get this Error Message "Check Tray #1 - Reinstall Tray". As though the tray is not inserted completely.... I have tried removing and re-installing the tray several times as well as turning the printer off and then on again...

I have not had this problem before....

Please Help....

    I have the same problem. Check tray#1, reinstall tray
    I have turned it on and off and taken out the tray with it on and off.
    I think there is a hardware problem that Brother is avoiding!
    This printer was purchased brand new couple years ago and I just have it off most of the time. I just got a new computer system and it is still giving me the same error. I'm about to throw it out the window!

    brother is a ripp off I think this is a internal thing with there printer and it cost more to fix it then to buy a new one .. never buying brother again and there customer service is very rude about it when you say they are wrong

This is a hardware problem with there crappy printer .. and the fact is that it cost more ot fix it then to buy a new one ... I believe they set it to a certain amount of time and freeze up so ppl can buy a new on or the part or it

Cycle power on the Printer.
  1. Turn the printer off.
  2. Wait 10 seconds.
  3. Turn the printer on.
  4. Determine if the issue still occurs.

If tray 1 is being used:
  1. Remove and reseat the tray.
    To remove and reseat the tray, perform the following steps:
    1. Pull the 250-sheet tray out of the printer until it stops.
    2. Hold the tray with both hands, lift the front slightly, and remove it from the printer (Figure 1).

Lexmark x502 printer shows tray 1 missing

pls do the following :-

When i m on printer inittilizeing sound came but but any one light on and like hang dont work again,some times paper error light ,some time toner error light,


Hi there,
You can test the printer by three ways,
1. Press and hold Green button for atleast 5 seconds it will take out the configuration printer, also the toner status page will come too
2. If the toner light is on , check the current toner status from the test prints taken before,
3. if the Error light is on, make sure there is no paper jaming in the printer, remove any paper stucked on the tray side, as well as check by removing the toner also
One thing more you can check the configuration for the Printer tray selected in the system,
Remove the Printer Drivers from the computer and try installing the software again, sometimes if you have selected manual tray feeding, or you have selected Tray 1 as default Tray and there is no page in the Tray 1 it will also, gives you the error on printer, 2nd thing you can check is the Paper size, both in computer and on tray 2 in printer, you take out a tray from the printer and adjust the nob to A4 . if you are using this printer on network, you have to reinstall the drivers for the printer, and it should give you the print,

Printer Error message : Printer Error has occurred. 6000


Error 6000 gets displayed when there is a paper jam or other general malfunction. When the message "6000 Printer error has occurred. Turn off the printer then back on again. If the problem persists, see the manual." Is displayed, something may block the paper feed tray from opening.
If the printer is surrounded with documents or when you copy large documents such as books, make sure that you secure the clear space in front of the tray before printing / copying. When the error message above is displayed and if you find something is in front of the tray, remove it. Then, turn OFF the printer and back ON again and the printer will be ready for printing.
If you still have the trouble, contact the repair service.

Check the printer for any paper jam or try to reset the printer to release memory code errors.

1. Press and hold the Resume button for 1 - 2 minutes.
2. Open the cover.
3. Remove the cartridge and then reinstall it.
4. Close the cover.
5. Turn Off the printer.
6. Turn On the printer.

Canon MP810-CD-R Tray loading-printing problem


I am trying to print on DVD with Canon MP810 but the image won't line up - seems to be taking the tray too far in and printing some of the image on the F tray! Help.... it's driving me nuts

Paper Tray #1 error message


on your control panel, press "menu/set" "7" then "2". if your page count shows 288,888, you have a bad engine controller board. anything other than that count, most likely is a damaged paper cassette. there is a tab on front left side that is probably worn or broke off.

When printing paper continues to jam.


  1. Take out paper tray 1.
  2. Remove any jammed sheets of paper you find there.
  3. Once you have done this, reinstall the paper tray and try printing again.
    Note: You may receive a message informing you that another sheet of paper is jammed elsewhere in the printer. If so, please open the front door and remove the toner cartridge. Also open the rear door of the printer (and the duplex option if a duplex unit is installed). Remove any and all jammed sheets of paper you find. Then try printing again.
  4. If the printer jams again with a 241 Paper Jam error message, look to see if it has tried to feed a sheet of paper out of the tray.

Epson Stylus R320 - cant align the CD tray to print....keeps showing error.


This printer has a bad system tray. If doesn't work in regular way, try inserting the cd tray from the back using the back slot and see what happen (usually works)

If this is the first time you have seen this error, do the following:
  1. Power off the printer.
  2. Remove all installed paper trays.
  3. Make sure the paper is loaded correctly in each tray. If it is not, reload the paper into that tray.
  4. Look up into the printer where the paper tray slides in and out. Check the feed (autocompensator) assembly for any damage.
  5. If everything is fine, reinstall the tray and power on the printer.
  6. Try printing a few print jobs.
  7. If the error does not return, continue using the printer as before. Keep an eye on it for the next few days. If the error does not return, it may have been an isolated incident.
  8. If the error returns just as soon as you power on the printer or when you try to print again, you will need to find out which paper tray/paper source is causing the problem.
  • If the printer has only the one integrated paper tray, the problem will be with either the tray 1 pick arm/autocompensator assembly or the printer's engine/system board.
  • If the printer has more than one paper tray installed, try printing from each paper tray one at a time. The best way to do this is to have all of the paper trays empty and then proceed as follows:
    1. Put paper in tray 1 only.
    2. Print from tray 1.
    3. If tray 1 works fine, empty tray 1 and put paper in tray 2 and so on until you encounter the error message.
    4. If you receive the error when printing from one particular tray, power off the printer to clear the error.
    5. Power the printer back on.
    6. Skip the faulty paper feed slot and move on to the next one (if another one is present). If you can print from all but one of the paper trays, this is the source of the problem.

      If you have extra paper trays/drawer units installed and the error occurs from only one particular source, there are some things you can do as a temporary fix.
      • If the error is occurring from an OPTIONAL paper drawer/source, power off the printer and remove the defective drawer from the printer. You will then need to set up the printer to print from a different tray. For information on removing an optional drawer, click here.
      • If the error is occurring from the integrated paper tray (tray 1) AND you have optional paper trays installed, take all of the paper out of tray 1 but leave tray 1 installed. Set up the printer to print from one of the other paper tray sources (tray 2, tray 3, multi-purpose feeder, etc.).
    7. And if your getting the same error then you need to get it serviced...
