In fact, there is no bottom thread. This machine sews using a running loop stitch similar to embroidery. The needle brings the thread down, a little arm catches a loop, AND THE LOOP IS MADE BY THE ADVANCE OF THE FABRIC. The machine stitches from left to right only! This means that the fabric must be put in on the right side of the sewing presser foot, and exits automatically from the left side. The machine will not sew well in fabric which does not feed well. It is important to get the tension right (that's the little knob on the left side of the sewing arm tip). Too loose and the stitches will be loose, too tight and the loops will not form. Also, you must tie off the end when you are done, or all the stitches will pull out! See the instruction manual link elsewhere in this solution posting, and just believe it!
(I took the whole thing apart and proved to myself that it could never work, then put it back togehter and it works fine!)

The top tread breaks after about 1inch when trying to do chain stich on my janome cover stich machine

Could be the result of several things. There could be some gunk or threads stuck in the tension disk. Be sure to remove the thread and rethread from the beginning in the order specified. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading!!!! If you haven't tried a brand new needle, do so, and make sure it is pushed all the way up and installed with the flat side facing the correct direction. Some machines recommend #90 as the largest needle to use. Also, perhaps the needle eye is too small to accommodate the thread. Watch where the thread is breaking to give you an idea of where the problem may originate. Try a different brand of thread. Sometimes black thread causes issues because the heavy dye affects the thread. Set the tensions at the midway point and then loosen the tension on that one needle. There could also be a burr or rough spot somewhere along the threadpath that is catching the thread. Last idea--could be a timing issue.

When iam stiching the bobbin thread is not interlocking with the pool thread ,the straight stich is not stiching properly

Do you have thread in your bobbin?
Is your needle fully inserted in the needle bar?
Is it the right needle for the machine?
Is your needle damaged, bent or dull?

When i try to sew after i have pulled the bobbin thread through no stiches are formed both threads are on top but no stiches are formed

Be sure your bobbin is inserted correctly. This is usually the main cause for the stitch not being made. If that's not the answer, be sure the upper threading is correct. If a thread guide is not threaded or if the thread does not go between the tension plates, this might cause your problem. And of course, make sure the needle is inserted with the groove toward you and that it is inserted completely in the needle channel. If none of these are the problem, the bobbin case may need to be adjusted or checked for burrs. I really hope this helps you. If it does, please come back to Fixya and rate my advice.

How do i uses a janome Mylock 534 or mylock534D for sweing? I cant even seem to thread the thing correctly, when ever i thread the mashine it only stiches for about 3 cms. must have the needles unthreaded any time you re-thread the loopers. So thread the loopers and then thread the needles and see if you have better results.

if the bobbin case is loose and pops out when started. it is not inserted correctly

make sure you hold the clasp when inserting case and hear the slick into place

make sure upper thread is threaded right and the bobbin thread is even

bring bobbin thread up and pull both threads to the back about fou inches

hold threads and stich a few stiches by hand or foot pedal befor letting fo of the thread.

Thread constantly breaks

Welcome to FixYa!

Believe it or not, this is usually caused by a bent or burred needle. Since you didn't mention changing it, I think that this is a possibility. Needles should be changed about every 8 hours of operation or more often if sewing heavy fabric. Try it and see.

If my info solved your problem, please give me a FixYa rating. Thanks!
