The coil of plastic tubing behind the crisper is your chilled water reservoir for the water dispenser. They use a coil instead of a tank because it chills the water more quickly and ensures good turnover of the water with less chance of stagnation.

Whirlpool gold refrigerator leaking under neath on the side

If its leaking all the time you could have a problem with the water supply line (if it has an icemaker)Or the solenoid valve (water valve) that opens to refill the icemaker after it drops (harvests) the ice.Or the plastic water lines that run from the valve up to the icemaker. You should pull the frig out from the wall and check the back for leaks. You could also Just shut off the water supply to the unit and see if it stops. These leeks cause a lot of damage when they go unnoticed for a long time.I would check it out asap.

Clean the drain pan and drain line in the back of the freezer section underneath the evaporator coil. Make sure water drains when you pour it in. If it doesn't - also clean drain tube on the back of the unit behind the cover. When done - make sure to put the tube exactly where it was.
Good luck! :)

My refrigerator started leaking underneath on the right back side. Can you tell me what is wrong and what needs to be done?

If you have icemaker in your fridge - remove cover on the back and down and check the plastic water tubing for cracks and loose connections.
If nothing found or you don't have icemaker - there is a drain pan on the bottom, behind the same back cover. Check if it has any cracks or tilted. Check if the drain tube is routed to the drain pan and is securely attached to the drain port on the bottom of the fridge.

Water leaking into crisper

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove panel back of freezer..you may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curatain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the Freezer is because the water has been leaking into the freezer instead of running into the drain hole...Please feel free to comment again if you need any further assistance. Whirlpook ET21NK--Water collecting in crispers

Self-defrosting refrigerators turn themselves off to defrost once in each 24-hour cycle. There is a 'drip pan' under the refrigerator that catches water from this automatic defrost cycle. The pan is not very deep, so if the unit is leaning very much, water will run over the top of the pan. For this and other reasons, you should try to keep the unit as level as possible.

Leaking refrigerator

  • if the drip pan is not cracked or overflowing then it could be that the drain tube that goes to the pan is clogged.
  •  a good thorough cleaning of the freezer should help.
  • also pour a little hot water in the back of the freezer (i take the refrigerator outside and blast it with a hose, but thats just me), this will hopefully melt any ice buildup that may be causing the problem.
  • the tube sometimes runs on the outside of the refrigerator along the back.
  •  either way the tube goes from the bottom of the freezer to the drip pan.
  •  let me know how if you need more help.
