SOURCE: Location of the STK392-110

The convergence IC's are large 2x3 inch(about) black in color IC's that stand up against a metal heatsink on the main printed circuit board. They will have white lettering on them that will plain as day when you see them. Make sure you replace these IC's with the manufacturers replacements and not some cheap copy, if the IC's cost less the 15 bucks a pop, they are cheap subs. Also do not forget the heatsink compound on the back of the new replacement IC's before you reinstall them. Good Luck

SOURCE: Tosiba TZ55V61 Convergence IC 150?s vs 110?s

STK392-150 can be replacement for 110's no other resister values need to be changed, however be sure bad resisters are replaced and check all the resisters (6) have been taken out of circuit and checked. also check for solder cracks and cold solder joints.

SOURCE: Convergence IC STK392-110 vs STK392-110T

If you are removing a defective chip, can you just cut the pins carefully with a wire cutter and later apply heat to pull them off?

SOURCE: 42H83 Convergence

Yes the convergence ICs need to be replaced, however so dont the six 1.8 ohm 1watt resistors as Toshiba recomends replacing those six resistors when the ICs are changed. You can get the 50H71 / 50H82 Convergence repair kit as the 42H83 is identical to the 50H71 series, so the kit will work for your model. Heres the link where you can get the kit.

SOURCE: I am getting ready to replace the 2 STK392-110 IC

Along with the convergence IC’s there will also be some associated components that will need to be replaced as well. There are some resistors that are part of the convergence circuit that will be open and need to be replaced. Most likely these will appear charred in the center. If you have an Ohm Meter or a DVM, check all the resistors that are close to the IC’s and you should be looking for either ones that have opened or have changed values.

If one of the convergence IC’s are found to be bad, I would replace them both, if one has gone bad the other may go soon. I usually order my parts from Andrews Electronics in California, they will have the OEM components that you will need.
Their site is
And their phone number is a 24-Hour Order Desk: (800) 274-4666
I recommend the phone order so you can talk to the person about the different types of IC’s that are available.

I would also advise that the convergence IC’s be OEM or better, just because they are cheap does not mean that they are a good deal. I have seen the cheap IC’s fail after a short time, even though they look exactly like the OEM IC’s. I think that the bottom line is that you will get what you pay for when it comes to the parts.

You can also try , they do carry OEM or better parts.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

Convergence problem

Usually what happens is that the convergence IC goes bad or the fuse going to the convergence ic goes bad. Pico fuses they are called sometimes open up. You may want to open it up and pull the board out and check the solder connections on the convergence IC. Sometimes these get fractured or cold soldered and aren't making connection to the PC board.
Let me know if you feel comfortable with pulling TV chassis out or pulling the board that has the convergence IC on it out. Then you can resolder convergence IC OR replace it.First thing i would do is check to make sure there is between 22vdc and 25vdc on the fuse or the convergence IC. Let me know if this helps out any.... Sincerely HDTV GURU JAY

Double picture out of alignment

Your problem is its time to replace the convergence IC's. Replace both of them as if one has failed depending on which color is out of convergence the other is not far behind. They are the two large black IC's mounted on a large metal heatsink, also while replaceing them check the small yellow or green micro fuses underneath the IC's to make sure none of them have opened from the result of the IC failing.

Can not convergence

Check for poor solder connections on both StK392-570 convergence Ics (Mitsubishi p/n # 267p150010) If there are none you may have to replace the amps - but that should restore normal convergence..

Convergence problem

One or both of the convergence IC's are bad and has blown one or both of the fuses. Pull off the front speaker grill and remove the cover, loosen 2 brass scews holding the aluminum frame work, lift it up and out. Inspect The convergence IC's and the soldered connections to the board, check the fuses on the board. Replace both IC's and the fuses.

Amps replaced...still getting 3D pix. The amps are not getting power. HELP!

Hi Brulia

There should be approximately 8 to 10 fuseable resistors around those convergence ics. They should stand out as they are a bright yellow colour. You should measure a short over them. If none of these are faulty I would leave the supply to the convergence alone and rather check the +5V / -5V and +12V supplies used by the convergence logic ICS. A common problem is the - 5V supply also used for your HT-protection cct op-amps. These ics goes short and pulls the supply to ground. There is no protection on these before mentioned supplies and therefore the set is still switching on but with a convergence problem.

Hope this helps.

sone tv's have fuses on the convergance ic's so if the ic fails the fuse goes also. the fuse or fuses can be near the ic, or can be located also in the power supply. I have seen that most times the fuse does not look like your normal fuse. they call them pico fuses. the look like small like resistors. i have seen them all white, all yellow, & all green. if you find them they are usually marke in amps, so replace with the same amp pico fuse. good luck
