I found out that Raytheon factory is about 2 miles from my house in NH. I am bringing it down to them and they can tell me what can be done. Shouldn't have to replace a whole unit or drill to fix it. Maybe they can just replace the whole back piece. I will let you know. Thanks for the input. Glad someone else has the same problem as I.

I did open op the case, cutted the psoitive and negative power lines, drilled a suitible hole for at soft cable with 2 wires. Soldered and insulated the 2 wires. Finally I filled up around my drilled hole with epoxy and fitted a connector in the other end of the new wire. Works fine.

I did the same damn thing and am amazed this question is on the net. i bought a new system but plan on taking it back. the 365 was a pretty nice model and i'm just going to splice it straight to the power supply. but i was lucky, the two pin connector is the damaged one so drilling it out and splicing it SHOULD be easy. well see. at this point i have nothing to lose.

hope this helps.

Connections problem

Question: What are the extra wires used for on the power cable for my fishfinder?
I found this on the carmin website under questions and answers. I think your cable is ok to use according to this.
--> Answer: Not all of the wires in the harness are required for use. To connect the unit to the power source, only the black & red wires are required (black to ground, red to positive). Here are descriptions of the other wires in the harness:
  • The Blue wire is used for a NMEA data out connection to another NMEA compatible device. The fish finder outputs NMEA 0183 version 3.01. The receiving device must be compatible with this format and looking for the NEMA sentences DPT, DBT, MTM, or VHW.
  • The Brown wire is used for a NMEA data in connection to receive data from another NMEA compatible device.
  • The Yellow wire is used to connect to an external buzzer or alarm to alert you to any alarms which have been set to sound on the device. The Yellow GARMIN wire connects to the negative end of the external alarm. The positive return on the alarm will connect to the red positive wire of GARMIN.
  • The green, white, and any other colors present have no connection purpose related to your fishfinder. The 18 Pin connector wiring harness is used by several other devices which utilize these wires.
If the device is only being connected to power & do not require a NMEA interface, PC connection, or external alarm support, only the red & black wires are required.

The fishfinder has no power whatsoever when I go to turn it on. I bought it with the boat and they never said it had a problem but when we go to turn it on we get no luck. Any ideas???? It looks brand new!

it could be a power issue. check to make sure that there is voltage at the breaker, then make sure that there is voltage at the plug that plugs into the back of the unit. the big problem with this plug in the needle pins inside the units plug area get bent or broken very easy,, so look at the back of the unit and in the plug area and see if all the pins look good. also check for a inline fuse and make sure it is not blown,, there could also be a circuit board issue going on like a bad resistor or diode. if you live in a big city you can most likely find a Raymarine dealer around your area that can take a look at the unit and do a quick trouble shoot to tell you if it is worth fixing. could also be just a circuit board fuse. or just a bad power cord.

Hi I have an Apelco 530 fishfinder/gps and need a through hull transducer kit. Apelco were taken out by Raymarine who advised me to contact Airmar who made the transducers. So far no answer but their...

Embedded

I was looking to see if I could find a replacement for the display and was able to confirm that the transducer is a single beam 120khz unit so I doubt that you've find a replacement for it ..as is .

The Airmar C-49 is the proper number for the connection line but like me I think your going to have to think about a whole new unit and or system . Been there already.

Best of luck.

Cant find pictures of an Apelco 365 fishfinder? any body have an idea on where to look

Here is one on the cover from a VHS instructional tape showing the 265 and 365. Might be able to blow it up a bit and crop the 365 out....
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51EAJS27Z5L._SL500_AA280_.jpg

And, you can go here:
http://www.raymarine.com/SubmittedFiles/Handbooks/Fishfinders/G627296www.pdf
for the 365 handbook to get some pretty fair drawings on the unit. I ran through the pages pretty fast and didn't see any photos but did run across a few drawings and illustrations.

Hope these help. If you can locate a former dealer for them, they might have some clip art from their coop advertising info.

Good Luck....

Need the directions to wiring the humminbird fish finder piranha max 210

Wiring should be very straightforward, the connector on the left (looking at the back of the sounder) is the plug for the transducer, the 2 pin plug in the middle is for the power (notch in the plug cord points UP), and the 4 pin connector is for the optional speed and/or temperature sensor. Here is an install manual for your reference:

Raytheon --Apelco 365--fishfinder

For the information of future searchers, I add an OEM type repair that has just worked for me.

Go to the dollar store and pick up any audio lead that has a single narrow pin in the centre. Cut the plastic where the cable enters the plug to expose the end of the pin and wire connection. unsolder the plug and at the same time using the heat from the soldering iron, withdraw the pin from the plastic that is holding it in place. Now you have an unsoldered pin all on its own.

Remove the back from the Apelco 365 and unsolder the wire on the broken pin, (mine was just a push fit). Touch the broken pin with the soldering iron and withdraw it. Insert the new pin, heating it a little with the soldering iron. From the outside of the back case, check the alignment of the pin, making small alterations using a bit of heat. Once satisfied, apply a little dab of crazy glue to fill any gaps around the pin.

Job done. In future use a little Vaseline Petrolem Jelly on the female plug and make sure the plug is square to the back when you insert it, and lined up with the notch at the top.
