Question about Kenmore Elite HE4 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

F 70 code on the Kenmore elete smartheat HE4

We frequently have to start the dryer several times during one load. The dryer will run fine for a while then all the sudden give 3 beeps and then the F 70 code. Sometimes when you go to start the dryer you can press power and the panel will light up for about 3 - 5 seconds and then shut off again, this will happen several times in a row. We have been unable to solve this issue ourselves and are becoming very frustrated since this washer/dryer set are less than a year old. Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated. (If we are unable to fix this problem soon, it is likely that the dryer will make a sudden leap from the second floor window to the backyard)

I have the same problem except mine just beeps 3 times then stops. It takes about 3 or 4 times to dry one load.

unplugging the dryer did help but, I have to frequently unplug the dryer to get through a load of wash. We contacted a repair man and were told there was no such thing as a F 70 code for this dryer....which really would have upset me since I am quite familiar with my letters and numbers but, we have been unable to find it in the dryers manuel either (maybe we should have called the matag repair man). We were told that it was probably a computer switchboard that was faulty or a fuse which was already checked...and since this dryer is now over a year old it was going to cost us a pretty penny to fix....so for now we will just keep unplugging the dryer until it takes a suicide jump from the second floor.... I assure you that we will not buy another one of these in the future. Thanks for your help.

I have the same problem, and it started right after we got it. We seem to have solved it by cleaning out the vent. Large, heavy loads still produce the code, however, which I think is an overheating code.

Try this first!!
This is an error code.

This can reset the system.
First unplug the washer and wait a 5 minutes then restart it.
It's like rebooting your computer when its acting strange!
Usually it corrects some error problems if they are not serious.
Or they are sometimes just a glitch.

If this does not help, you said the machine is not one year old.
All appliances have a 1 -year warranty and the service and parts are free for that first year!
I hope you succeed with my recommendations.

    Friends,
    huuum At your service!

    PERHAPS YOU GOT A LEMON!
WATCH MAGIC AS I TURN YOUR LEMON INTO A CHERRY!
Here is what you must do!

I do this a lot for my customers! We are a family business for over 65 years
    READY??

You get together all the service invoices and organize your self with the sales slip and service slips and go into the Sears that sold it to you, right to the appliance department during the business day. And tell them you demand to see the store manager!

Then we are going to get them to fix it for free, or do a whats called a "PUSH-PULL"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You tell him when you bought it and how many times service has been to your rescue!
    With documentation of dates.
    .
Be calm, nice and reserved! BUT FIRM!

Some times I've told my customer that when it's past the end of the warranty that for good measure, Tell them, you want them to replace this lemon with a brand new machine!
    Tell him or her......................
"I just took a loan to remodel my kitchen, and I have gutted the
kitchen and found all my stainless steel Sears appliances that I am
    ready to purchase !

BUT, I cannot in good faith follow through with this buy until I see that Sears does indeed back up their product!

WARRANTY TIME MEANS NOTHING WITH DOCUMENTATION!

IT'S EASIER TO KEEP THE CUSTOMERS YOU HAVE THAN FIND NEW ONES TODAY!!!!!!
EVERY DAY THE MAJOR MANUFACTURERS ASK DEALERS TO DO A , "PUSH PULL".
THEY PAY US TO ORDER AND DELIVER AND PICK UP THE LEMON FOR RETURN TO THEM!
    NO COST TO THE CUSTOMER!
Not even delivery. No matter what the dealer says to you about money!
    No money, honey! Got me?
The companies forbid the dealers from taking any money from the push pull customer !
    They pay us!!!
Unless you want to tip the guys on the truck.

Your going to love the service and being in control!
    You are fine now!
    All will be right!

JUST , NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS CALM, SMOOTH, QUIET, AND HAVE A NICE PLEASANT ATTITUDE. ANGER GETS US NOTHING!

    I LOVE THIS!

    MY COMPLIMENTS,
    BLESS YOU!
    huuum

Please do not forget to give me a good rating for getting you a new washer!

We started with appliances 65 years ago and still sell them TOO!

Hello I have an 2004 HE4 Nat Gas smartheat quick pack 9 model 9587 / 110.9586. It seems to be leaving brown markings or streaks on the clothes more and more frequently any ideas on how to best deal with...

the felt seal part number 697694 could be worn,if the drum sags down from the felt wearing down it forms a gap and the clothing can even get stuck in gap, some dryers have glides that wear down and some ride on a back bearing, but the problem usually is from a part wearing down and a gap forms from it and it damages the clothing, hope this helps
