Question about Computers & Internet
The problem may be occuring because there is no power being directly supplied to the adaptor via the port. If you look on the underside of the adaptor, there is a small button; simply hold this down and slide the 3 pronged plug down to reveal the power port. Clean it of any dust or material which may block it. Firmly place the plug back on the adaptor and check if it works. If the problem still persists, you could remove the plug and use a power cable with a matching port, i.e. a playstation power cable to my knowledge will match it.

not quite the same problem - however I am trying to trace the manufacturers of these advent powerline adapters. I have abysmal performance and actually get better connectivity using wireless g. In addition the utility software that came with it always says I have no homeplug adapters installed. A web search reveals nothing and there is no mention on the box or in the online or paper manual for a contact for support for these devices. Is this legal?
If anyone knows of a support contact for the manufacturers please post it. thanks
of the 3 LED's the power and the ethernet ones are lit on both adapters, however the powerline one is not lit on either adapter. both were working perfectly one day and the next this. this the 2nd pair of adapters i have had in a year - first failed on me
I have the same problem. My ethernet and power lights illuminate but not the powerline lights. The software says it cannot detect homeplug adapters
Bill
I now have 4 of these devices that have failed. Symptoms are that none of the lights illuminate and they cannot be connected to using the software. Seems like these are defective.....
I have one of these that have just died as well... No lights are on and software cannot detect it..
I bought mine new of an ebay seller and cannot locate anyone to provide service or support!!
Anyone know where to go for service/replacement?
BTW: I had the problem with the missing powerline lights - restarting both adapters seems to solve that one for me.
I purchased 4 Powerline adaptors via eBay. One didn't work when it arrived and the supplier did change it. For about 5 months they have worked OK, but in the last month 2 have completely packed up and the supplier won't replace them as they only give 2 weeks warranty. Thus they get good eBay feedback but would appear to be selling products known to be sub-optimal. False economy really.
Yeh i've had 3 of these and they have all broken...definitely faulty...Never buying anything from Advent again
I have very similar problems. I bought a single Advent 85mbps powerline ethernet adapter for my laptop in areas of the house where the wireless reception is bad. I plugged it into a power socket. It works for about 5 minutes before my laptop tells me the network connection has been lost. I look over at the adapter and all the lights have gone off. Sometimes leaving it disconnected will reset it and it works for another 5 minutes before turning itsellf off.
I am already using a pair of homeplug adapters on the same home network (a different make admittedly) One goes into my router, the other goes into my xbox. I wonder if different makes are incompatible with each over ?
