Fridge not cooling freezer is

Your problem is one or more parts of the defrost system is malfunctioned and in return your problem arises. There are three parts to the system, the defrost timer or in some cases control board, defrost thermostat also known as a bi-metal, and the defrost heater. The defrost system is set up to operate as so. The defrost timer or control board will turn the machine off, in some cases every 8 hours, some 12. During this time period the defrost heaters, located behind the freezer wall and rest underneath the evaporator, yet wires to them run up the side of it, are energized and emit heat that raises upward to melt the ice that has formed on the evaporator coils. The bi-metal or defrost thermostat is at the top of the evaporator. When the heat from the heater starts to reach the bi-metal, it breaks the circuit turning the heater off. The whole purpose of this is because the freezer cool the refridgerator side by drawing air across the coils and blowing to the other side via the evap fan motor. In my opinion, if you change one part of the defrost system change them all because usually when one part fails another will follow, so save yourself the time and the food loss, the cost difference is minute.

Ge gss25kgmccc. frig not cooling

If you mean the machine is freezing, but not cooling then the first thing to check is if the evaporator fan located in the freezer is running, If its not then thats the problem, but if it is see if you notice any frost on the back wall, if so

Your particular model has what they call glass heaters, pt #WR51X10055, and are notorious for burn out. You'll have to thaw it out, but when you do remove the back panel and you'll be able to visually see if the heater is burnt out or not.

Every few days the freezer side of a side-by-side refrigerator freezes over (ice on coils), while the refrigerator side is warm. The thermostat has been replaced, but problem continues. Any troubles

1 month old whirlpool refrigator is almost 60 degrees in frig part and 10 below zero in freezer side

It sounds like one of two things, either the evaporator fan is not running(fan in the back of the freezer behind lower back panel) or the bi-metal thermostat that may be in series with it is open..
Also some newer models use a lower voltage fan motor, use to be all were 120 volts........
It is under warranty for one year so call for authorized service to repair it......
(all of the cooling on the refrigerator side is done by air circulating from the freezer side, also possible there is ice blocking the air flow somewhere)
hope this helps

Evaporator coil freezing, replaced main control

It is possible you have a defective fan motor in the condenser area or evaporator area. Sometimes when they become defective they will run for a while and just warm up and stop while the compressor continues to run. I learned that one on four costly returns to the home. The cost was to me not the customer. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Frezzer is icing up and frig is getting warm . we tried to defrost by shutting down. we did this twice model #msd2957de

Hi, If you are having frost build up, you will need to remove the rear panel inside the freezer. Unplug the refrigerator. You will need to test the bi-metal switch that is located on top of the evaporator coil and it needs to be cold when testing it. If the bi-metal switch shows an open circuit, it will need to be replaced. If the switch shows a closed circuit, test the defrost heater the same way.
If both parts show they are ok, you will need to replace the defrost control which is located inside the fresh food section in the control panel.
If it is solid ice that you find after removing the freezer panel. the drain under the evaporator coil is plugged and will need cleaned out.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Freezer/fridge won't get cold enough

Madezmom, you have a defrost issue. If your model starts with 106 you more than likley have a bad defrost bi-metal, I will attach a picture of bad one. This sits on the evaporator in the freezer section behind the panel. You will have to remove the shelves and remove the back panel. Defrost the evaporator completely. The part number for the bi-metal is 2196155. See if yours is bulged like the one in the attached photo. If so, that's your problem..Catriver..post back.
