My vizio remote works but the tv doesn't respond. I replaced the remote anyway but it still doe not work. resetting tv doen't work what is next?

It is possible the remotes are either bad or not compatible to the tv. Recheck the remote type and the batteries to see it that helps.

Televison station won't scan

If you are receiving a "No Signal" error message, verify that:
  1. All of the cables physically connected to the TV and the input device are secure.
  2. The input device is turned on.
Your TV needs to scan for channels before it can show programming from an antenna, from cable TV when the cable comes directly from the wall (no cable box), or from a cable or satellite box connected to the TV with a coaxial (RF) cable. Do not scan for channels if you have a cable or satellite box connected using AV (Composite), Component, or HDMI cables. The box selects the channel, not the tuner inside your television. If you are not using the "TV" input, press the INPUT button on your remote until the correct input mode is selected.
To perform a channel scan using the coaxial input:
  1. Press the INPUT button on your remote to view your current input source. The TV (coaxial cable) input must be selected. This may appear as "TV," "ANT," or the channel and call letters of a station.
  2. If the TV input is not selected, press INPUT until the TV input mode is selected.
  3. Open the on-screen menu and select TV or Tuner option. (This varies by model.)
  4. Highlight Tuner Mode and select the correct option:
    • Antenna-over-the air signals from an antenna
    • Cable-direct from the wall cable TV, or a cable or satellite box connected to the TV with coaxial cable
  5. Select Auto Search or Auto Channel Scan. (This varies by model.)
  6. When the search reaches 100% complete, exit to the menu.
  7. Check the available channels:
    • Antenna or direct-from-wall cable-Press the Channel Up and Channel Down buttons on your VIZIO TV remote to view the available channels.
    • Cable or satellite box- Will return only one channel. Use the cable or satellite remote's Channel Up and Channel Down buttons.
If this does not resolve the issue, power cycle the TV and then re-run the channel scan:
  1. Turn off the TV.
  2. Unplug the TV from the electrical outlet.
  3. While the TV is unplugged from the wall, press and hold the Power button on the TV for 30 seconds.
  4. Release the power button.
  5. Plug the TV back into the electrical outlet.
  6. Turn on the TV.
Note: There is also an option to reset the TV to the factory default settings. This option is in either the SETUP or SYSTEM section of the on-screen menu. The option may be "Reset all settings", "System Reset," or "Reset & Admin." Consult your TV's user manual for the location and steps for resetting your model.
  1. Remove the coaxial cable from the DTV/TV connector on the back of your television and perform a channel scan to clear the existing channels. See the procedure above. This should not find any channels.
  2. Re-attach the coaxial cable to the DTV/TV connector and perform a new channel scan.
This video shows troubleshooting steps to use when a "No signal" message appears.

Have tv kitchen, but remote will operate living room unless we point it toward the floor

Funnily enough I could not find any simple code programming solution to your problem. I have read about others having a similar problems with no effective solutions offered.

The simplest option then would be to swap out one of the tv's in question for one that doesn't respond to the same remote signals. Maybe you have one downstairs or in a bedroom or a friend's that you could swap.

Another potential solution is placing some black electrical tape or a sticker over most of the sensor area on the tv, leaving only a very small opening or hole clear (like a bullseye) for the remote's signal to get through. Hopefully this will allow only the signal from remotes that are pointed directly at the tv to get through and control the tv.

Sorry I couldn't think of anything more elegant, but it is a curious problem without a proper solution for now.

Good luck and please post back if this was helpful or with how you make out.

I have a Sanyo DP26746 TV. I pushed the reset button in error and am unable to get to any other screen. It wants to look for HD channels. Since I only use a satellite service it can't find any. Help! I...

Hi,

First of all make sure all the leads are connected to the TV.

Press the reset button on the remote twice (this will clear all previous settings) and perform a channel search and create new ones.

Now you will need to perform an all channel search.

Press the Menu key to display the main menu.

Use the cursor up/down keys on the remote and select "All Channel Search" and press enter. Use the cursor key to select yes and press enter.

Now you may need to perform a digital cable search to pick up your satelite digital signal.

Press the tuner key on the remote and then the menu key.

Use the cursor key to select Digital cable search and press enter.

Use the cursor key to select yes and press enter.

Now the TV should scan for a digital signal

Good luck and kind regards.

Can not tune the tv

My dear friend. A TV is a TV and TV's are many and varied. If you stated the model and what it exactly does, maybe I or other people could help you instantly. But since you have said little in relation to TV tuning, then expect a few guys to help you. But allow me to give you a hint that applies to almost all flat panel TV's, ok? Right. On every TV there is a MENU that gives you many options. First you need to press a button on the remote that displays component connection channels and TVincoming signal type. Since I don't know what brand of flat panel TV you have, I can only ask you to find and press the button on the remote that displays on TV screen the following component channels, that is DVT, AVT, Component 1, Component 2, HDTV1, HDTV 2, HDTV 3 and so on. Apart from DTV and ATV, from Component 1 to HDTV 3, these additional channels are for DVD players that also have HDTV outputs and BlueRay players and or Audio devices. If yout TV hasn't got as many channel input, then ignore this part. To tune your TV you have to first press the butoon on the remote to activate the onscreen channel as above, then scroll on DTV or ATV and, depending on whether you have Digital TV in your country or the standard high resolution Analog TV. Lets say you have Digital NTSC format TV system, select it and then press ENTER on your remote. In the menu you find and click SCAN. Depending on where you are, the TV will begin scanning all frequencies in your territory and possible interstates if the modulator is powerful enough to pick up weak signals. Most TV's have an inbuilt set-top box that boost the signal to give you a crystal clear pic. Now, after pressing SCAN, the TV reaches a signal with a clear pic, all you have to do is recognise the channel that comes in view. The instructions on how to save that channel are on screen and then you can configure it as, say channel 4, if the channel that appeared is channel 4, if not, try and recognise what channel had appeared and then configure it with a number, so when you press that number on the remote it will be the same channel you had stored in the TV memory. After you have done this, press scan again and it will scan to the next channel. Once the scanning recognises another clear signal and it is as clear as a baby's face, you have recognised the new channel. Try, find out what channel it is by looking at the screen, there is usually a visible TV station name or number embossed on the lower corner of the screen, once you know what station that is or what channel number it is, configure that number and press ENTER (save) button. Do the same with the remaining channels. Later I will tell you how to skip unwanted blank channels that usually have no signals but snow and lines, or have faint signals that can only be boosted with a TV booster available from reputable TV retailers, or install a bigger more powerful antenna.

Reagards.
Mike

for the remote change battery or get new remote, For the TV make sure that your cable is plugged in properly and not half out. or has it previously been wet. Reason because it sounds like your TV has had a static charge.

Cannot control TV with remote after DTV change

Cool. It's good that you fixed your problem.
Just in case that it happens again, your TV come with a "RESET" and "SYSTEM RESET" button on the back of the TV. 90% of the time, the SYSTEM RESET button will solve the problem.

AUTO SIGNAL DETECTING NO SIGNAL

Yes, I seem to have fixed the problem on my Akai using some creative google finds. One of two things worked - not sure which:

1. Leave the set unplugged overnight - it must let the electronics reset when the residual charges clear
2. For my Akai (remotes and models vary), hit in remote's sequence quickly - brightness, freeze, menu, enter - this places you in some screen that offers a hard reset option. That didn't work right away, but i did it before the option above and then the set worked again.

My problem was really odd because it worked for the component inputs and you could see the video and TV signals inside the PIP windows, but not full screen as primary input. Why the TV could 'see' the signals in a PIP windows but not detect them as primary I have no idea.
