If the radio has been modified and the audio was tweaked, Chances are that D8 has been jumped. if that was done then an amplified audio signal is being directed to an un-amplified input on the audio transformer(T1). If that is the case then T1 might be burned out. If D8 is jumped,then it has been shorted and is most likely no good. Also C48 might be burned out, This is part of the audio input circuit to T1. My 29 LTD Classic had this problem and that is what I had to replace to get working again.

This problem could be several things!
#1. It could be the white wire has came un-soldered from the mic plug end!
#2. It could be the audio chip !
#3. Capacitor coming off the chip!
#4. Bad speaker, if you have no receive! Try inserting a PA speaker in the back and try it!
The tools you will need are Capilizer, OHM meter.
