I canot open a file which i supose in ms word 2007.in my com uter only ms word2003 instaled.

Hi, MS Word files have .doc extension (Word 97-2003 Format). Since launch of MS Office 2007, the files have the extension .docx. These files can be opened with earlier versions of MS Word (97, 2002, 2003 etc) by installing the compatibility pack, which is available at Microsoft Official Site. It is not at all necessary to Buy/ Install Office 2007 for opening such files. Visit the above link, download the compatibility pack/ converter and enjoy!

install it and success!

You don't have to convert the .docX or .xlsX to view in MS Office 2003, just install the "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint File Formats" and you should be able to open files, created or saved as the MS Office 2007 format.

If you need to edit the files you can too, but you will saved it in the MS Office 2003 formats.

If you still have the installation CD for Microsoft Office 2003 and the key that goes with it, you can un-install the Trial version of Office 2007 and install Office 2003. Files saved Office 2007 format are not redable with Office 2003.

To preserve your files (the ones made with Office 2007) you must go through the following procedure:

1. Open each file with the application that created it (Word, Excel, Powepoint, or what have you)
2. If it its a Word 2007 file save it in Word2003 format
3. If it is an Excel 2007 file save it in the Excel 2003 format.
4. Etc.

This is only necessary if you intend to modify them at some later time.
If you only want to read (not modify) them you can still do that because Microsoft offers a free Word viewers.

Other free software you can use to open files created with Office 2007 is OpenOffice.org 3. You might lose some formatting but the files will be accessible to you.

To open Microsoft Office Word 2007 .docx or .docm files with Microsoft Office Word 2003, you need to install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for 2007 Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint File Formats and any necessary Office updates. By using the Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system, you can open, edit some items, and save Office Word 2007 documents in previous versions of Word.

The office 2003 should prompt you to download a update to be able to read the files when you attempt to open one.

You can open docx extension files only with MS Office 2007. If you wish to open it in earlier versions you have to save it again in compatible mode. Click on File (top left most corner with the logo), Save As, Word 97-2003 Document. Just using Save option will save your document as "docx" and not "doc" document.

pls try and reinstall the msword

open office files dont work for ms word files. they are working in the same flatform but you cant open the file using the prescribed format. You need to check your cd installer. The setup icon should be the one to run in installing your MS Office 2007. Maybe its true that your installer cd was corrupted. try to secure a new one by purchasing a licensed one but if you like free just look for any computer technician in your area they have it if you're friends they will give it for free.I have an installer just email me [email protected].
