Blue Screen Error Message

Hello, my dell dimension 3000 desktop shows an error on a blue screen during startup that reads 0X00000024 (0X00190203, 0X82B4B638, 0XC0000102, 0X00000000). I have tried restarting in all of the suggested modes but to no avail. I believe there are driver errors but I can’t get past this screen to try and fix it. I ordered installation discs from dell; one is for the operation system and one for applications. I tried putting both in at startup but nothing happens. I really don't know much about this stuff but my daughter needs this computer for school. HELP Please!!!!

Computer blue screen of death is usually related to hardware or driver. It is typically caused by software errors in device drivers: in Windows systems by poorly written device drive . They can also be caused by physical hardware faults, such as faulty RAM memory or power supplies, overheating of components, or hardware which is run beyond its specification limits . On the other hand, registry damage, corrupted program and viruses are the major causes of computer blue screen, too. According to the issue you've got, the following tips may be available to you.1.An efficiency troubleshooting step on hardware is to start your computer with the minimum hardware necessary to run the operating system. If your computer starts successfully it proves that one of the removed hardware devices was the cause of the STOP message. Otherwise move to the next solution.
2.Boot your computer in Safe Mode by pressing F8 at startup. Then go to My Computer and right-click on Disk C to select Properties from the dropdown menu. From the Tools tab, perform an error check and disk cleaning. 3.If the about two solutions doesn't work, the last one I can suggest to you is to create a bootable disk. It is the most quick and effective way for you to solve the problem. You just need to download a software can burn your CD/usb into a bootable one and then boot your computer from it. Run the software to fix the issue after that. There are few free software for you to use, so if you want to take this solution money is indispensable. Windows Boot Genius owns a better cost/performance among other kinds of software I've used. It may be a good choice for you if you have money to pay.
By the way, reinstall your operating system can also help you out if nothing important stores in it.

    • 1 If a STOP error appears during Windows Setup, it is usually due to a faulty device driver. Bypass the error by pressing F6 when prompted at the beginning of Setup, then check for compatible drivers on the Internet.
    • 2 If a STOP error appears during start-up, and Windows XP was previously running properly, it is likely due to an incompatible software application or device driver that you recently installed. Remove the device or uninstall the program, and restart your computer.
    • 3 If Windows hangs during start-up, use your Windows CD to start the computer. If you need to do repairs, and you are comfortable working at the command line, enter the Recovery Console by pressing "R" at the "Welcome to Setup" screen. Type "help" for a list of commands.
    • 4 If a STOP error appears while Windows is running, it could be caused by drivers, services or hardware problems. The text on the screen may help you pinpoint the problem.
    • 5 If your computer restarts before you can read the STOP error text, view the details in the Event Log. Open Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Event Viewer. In the left-hand pane, click on "System Log." Filter entries to show only error events by choosing View>Filter; click the "Filter" tab, and clear all checkboxes except "Error." Scroll through the entries to find the time and date your computer crashed, and double-click the entry.
    • 6 Read the BSOD text, which might say something like, "If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen...," then an explanation and directions. Follow the instructions and see whether they correct the problem. If another BSOD appears, decode the rest of the STOP error in order to search for a solution.
    • 7 Find the symbolic error name. At the top of the BSOD, under the message beginning, "A problem has been detected," the symbolic error name appears in capital letters. One common symbolic error name is "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL."
    • 8 Decode common abbreviations.
IRQL (pronounced "Urkel") stands for "interrupt request level."
      KMODE stands for "kernel mode."
PTES refers to page table entries (PTEs).
HAL stands for "hardware abstraction layer."
    • 9 Locate the error number. Under "Technical Information," after the word "STOP," you will find an error number (in hexadecimal), such as "0x0000003F." The numbers following the error number, in parentheses, are parameters.
    • 10 Start your computer in Safe Mode, then search Microsoft's Knowledge Base, using the symbolic error name or error number as your search term.

Looks like you've been getting two different Stop errors...

The 1st error, 0X00000024, aka Stop 0x24, is a Windows 2000 error. (XP is just an updated version of 2000) Microsoft gives an explanation here.

For the 2nd error, starting with 0x000000ED, Microsoft's solution is here, with additional help here.

Dell 5150 Start-Up Problem.. beeps

Beeping on startup is a memory error. The blue screen you got was most likely caused by a memory error as well. First, take out then re-install your memory. If the error persists and you have more than one stick, test each one singly to find out which stick is bad.
