I have a D600 PC Notebook. Works OK on AC, but the battery display on the "device status lights" blinks red-red-green. It does not seem to be charging, as the unit does not work when I unplug the AC cord. On pressing the battery test button on the battery cover, I get 3 green lights, the outer two and the middle. Help!

There are a few things that can cause this. Start by removing the battery and starting on AC only. Then remove the memory and try each chip separately. If these aren't the problem, then I'm afraid the power management system or another component on the motherboard may have failed. You will need to take it in for a professional diagnostics.

if your charger is ok then it will be a problem with the dc jack (where your charger plugs in to) or your actual motherboard.

Lap top will not turn on. receives power from the cord and power supply, but has no indicating lights on the lower left part of laptop. was able to get the lap top to operate after removing and...

Measure the voltage at the terminals of the battery in the laptop. If there is no supply then the power section in the lap tops main board is faulty and needs a check.
However if there is voltage then the battery must be checked if this has failed to charge and is defective. check if the cord from the adapter is not short as it will result in DC power cut off.

When I push the power button to power the lap top up the light display that says outlet power changes from green to amber and the laptop will not power up.

try removing the battery and just use plug power only if it boots normally then change the battery and the change the power supply unit as well I would just start with the power supply unit first then see if the battery charges up if not the battery is bad replace it. Now if the computer will not start with the battery removed then you have a power supply issue.
Change and replace it. Hope this helps. Also when computer lap top get hot they will shut down to protect the computer wait and let it cool down then try to restart your computer. If this does work and the lap top restarts normally get a fan cooler that is USB powered and the lap top sits on top of it. Also make sure the fan is running and is not stopped. Clean and dust it out once in awhile. I hope this assists you with your problem. John

You may have a bad battery. Remove the battery and try restarting. If it comes on without the battery, you know that you need to replace the battery.

If that is not the problem, please report any sounds that you hear when you turn on the machine. If you are able to see anything on the screen, please report that too.

This problem is either due to your power adapter, wall plug or the back of your lap top where the power adapter goes into. My guess would be the power adapter, they are infamous for going bad. Try wiggling the cord that connects to the power brick (black box) from your lap top.
