Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

We purchased a Netgear Wireless router. The router works great, but now we need to install the pc card in our pc. We opened it up but cannot find a slot that fits the end of the card. Can't seem to find a picture anywhere to show us where this needs to go.

I have emachines model w 3619, need to run internet from my home wireless netgear router to the emachines for internet ser how and what do i huck up to. on my wireless router.

I would go and get an external USB wireless device. They are great for picking up wireless connections you can get them cheap at amazon.com under wireless USB. I'm assuming that your E machine does not have a wireless port installed. Also you can get a PCI wireless card as well. The link above will take you to what you will need to do this. John

What wireless router can i get that is compatible with my T180

I know for a fact that a netgear router is compatible, because I have one but honestly any wireless router, regardless of brand, should work for you, provided it is set up correctly and your wireless card/adapter on you computer is setup correctly (i.e. drivers loaded, turned on, etc.). Let me know if you have any questions.

The netgear router installation will set up the internet connection during install.
Download the Router driver from netgears website and install on the computer/s then your up and running.
it appears you wireless card is seeing the router so just install the drivers and your set.

Emachines desktop with netgear wireless adpater

You need a driver for the card.
Download one here if wanted after reading on.. I will have the link below inwhich you can click onto for instant access

Emachines are the worst computer to have. They have more problems since they are manufactured so cheaply. My advice is to sell it and purchase a HP, Or a DELL.
When the power supply gets a spike it shorts out the Mother board instantly
Emachines do not beleive installing a fuse so that is why the mother board goes too

Adding Dell Dimension 4600 to existing wireless network?...

Go to Staples and purchase a Linksys USB wireless-G (only G needed - the new "N" protocol is overkill) adapter (~$60.00). Insert the Linksys CD and follow the instructions. When prompted, plug the USB adapter into the Dell (frt or back) doesn't matter. If his "roomies" have security enabled on their router, you'll need to know the level, password/passphrase, and the network name that they assigned.
Good luck.

Are you sure that your PC has a built in wireless function and not just a regular modem ??

If you just have a modem you will need to purchase a USB wireless interface the link below will take you to one perfectly compatible with your router.

I have installed a netgear wireless router according to the wizard disc and it says I have completed it..however it is still connected to the computer..how do I make it wireless?? If I just disconnect it...

wireless hasnt got nothing in relation to the wired internet ports on your computer. think of it as two seperate books.

if you have brought a wireless router, you SHOULD have brought a wireless card to go inside your computer, just like you need a skybox to watch t.v from the satelite, it doesnt go straight to your tv. just like the wireless signals doesnt get 'absorbed' by your pc.

IF you have also brought, inserted, and installed the wireless card you should follow these steps.

firstly you need to go into 'network connections' and find your wireless connection you have. double click it and you should see a screen where you search for your wireless network, which the netgear wireless router will be sending out the signal. Once youve found your wireless network you can double click it and connect. some people will have a password, called a network key. this should be provided in the paperwork of the netgear wireless router.

Hello,

In Ideal scenarios, you should just plug in the card in the notebook and it should get installed automatically.

Than you may scan for the available networks and you should be able to see the network of your Netgear router(Assuming that the Netgear you have mentioned is wireless capable and configured).

You can connect to the network and it should work fine.

Let me know what happens.

Sammy
