Hi ckboo,

You can disable the hibernating under display properties.

Right click on an empty area on your desktop, go into power management, choose Hibernate tap and uncheck option for hibernation.

Hope this helps and good luck.

How to get out of sleep mode?

You turned the laptop on and off and it still is asleep?

When you turned it off did the power go completely off? If not remove the power cord to make it go off.

Try booting up into safe mode and see if it goes to sleep.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Take the Safe Mode With Networking option (this will give you internet connectivity so you can view the manual later) and let it boot up. Safe Mode will look different to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this is normal. Check your Power Options in the Control Panel to set your Sleep Mode and Hibernation up higher or set it to NEVER. Click Start/Control Panel and look for Power Option (it might be under System and Performance).

Below is a link to your user manual. You want to go to Pages 77 and 78 where it talks about changing the Power Plan. You want to select Change Advanced Settings as it talks about on pages 78 and you will be allowed to change the hibernate and sleep settings.

COMPUTER TURNS ON AT 12AM/NOBODY ON IT?

Check for power options you might have some hibernation settings or some wallpaper wakeup program. If you properly shut down your computer, it won't turn ON itself unless you provide it power.

I accidently shut my computer down with hibernation before leaving. When I come home, the computer will not turn on, no lights no noise, nothing. How do I unlock the hibernation? Or could it be something...

You need to hit the power button just the once to bring it back out of hibernation mode. It may take around 30 seconds until you hear your computer starting to boot back up and a little longer for the screen to come on.
Failing this, you can try a hard reboot by holding down the power button until you hear your computer re-boot. Usually you need to hold around 10 seconds. However using this last method as a final resort will result in your computer telling you that it did not shut down properly.

Gateway e-2610 shuts down like in hibernate

Hi there.
The best way to deal with the PC not waking from sleep or hibernation mode is to disable it from doing it altogether.

Click on the control panel and select power options, you will see a window pop up with options like when to turn off the display, when to set the computer to sleep and so on, all you have to do is set them to never and you won't have that problem again.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Computer remains in sleep mode to conserve electricity

This is a known issue in Vista. Computers going into hibernation and then not waking up. I believe it was fixed with the Service Pack 1 distribution, but I'm not 100% certain.
I would recommend that you go into the power options from the control panel and disable hibernation. You can tell the computer to turn off the monitor and the hard drive after a period of time, but just don't leave hibernation enabled.

My acer computer will turn on but wont come out of hibination mode

Some laptops have issues with Windows XPs hibernation mode. To get the computer back up again you should just hold the power button down until it shuts off completely. Some laptops won’t shut off even if you do this. When this happens you have to take the battery out to get it to turn off. Make sure it is not plugged into the wall when you do this otherwise it wont work.

Once you get the computer back running again you may want to disable hibernation if it seems like its going to keep happening. Go to Start, Settings Control Panel or Start, Control Panel and go to the Power Options icon. Change the hibernation section to never. You may want to try standby as an alternative. Standby saves all your running applications and documents into RAM while hibernate saves them to the hard drive. Hibernate uses less power from your battery, but it will take you considerably longer to get the computer back up. If you always plug the computer in then you may want to disable standby and hibernate since you really dint need them while plugged in.

Let me know if this works.
