When I open Word 2007 to write a letter, or anything taking more than one line, each additional line is in double spacing. How do I change to single spacing as it did in Word 2003?

Check the printwheel for any broken or bent spokes. vertical lines means the wheel is between letters so either a problem with printwheel or something preventing wheel from turning normally.

Before doing anything else, highlight all the text (including any 'white space' that might follow), that you want to change into 'single' spacing. Then go to top menu 'Format' then select 'Paragraph' and on the new menu find 'Spacing', Then on the pull down menu select 'single' and 'OK'

when in wordpad there are couple of things in blocks

clip board, font, paragraph,insert,and editing

2x spacing will be in the paragraph block its the top row right corner

if u hover your mouse over it reads line spacing click it and change it to 2

that should fixya up

Open a NEW, CLEAN document. Alter all the paragraph setting until you get them exactly as you want them.

Now the tricky part.

Save the document as a TEMPLATE and save to a folder you are familiar with. Give it a good name and below that on the dialog box, choose TEMPLATE (file type dotx)

Next time you need to type a letter with single spacing, open that template. When you go to save it, Word will prompt you for a file name as a docx, thus preserving your template for another day.

Press the return key twice at the end of a line.
This is single space,

This is double space

With a double return at the end of the line.

Okay, follow the procedures below:

from your ms word, click format and scroll to paragraph, then press enter.

Check the third option and you will see spacing, from there, you can change to single line spacing and press ok to save settings.

Check the line spacing setting on the page setup menu. I probably is currently set to 1.5 or 2 lines -- this will give you double-spacing between the lines of text.

Also, check the default page style you have. If you click on the page style menu option and view the default settings, you may find that the DEFAULT style has been set to double-space your lines. Make the change and then save the style back as your default.

use the shift + enter to get single line. else you need to save a template that includes single line.

If you're talking about Word 2007, it is in the 'Paragraph' box under the 'Home' tab, between 'Justify' on the left and 'Shading' on the right.

Dear Hayr, you might like to go to formatting and then set line spacing. Decrease it and you would be able to shorten the distance between text.
