This is a known "Service Notice" issue announced by Canon.
You'll notice thousands of consumers reporting the exact same problem including myself.
It takes too long to power on the camera, then when it does, it won't take any pictures then after 10 sec or so, "'Memory Card Error" displays. Hitting menu button does not work nor Preview/Playback mode (green light flashes). Camera powers off in 2 min.
Since this is a known issue, if it indeed is this issue, Canon will repair it regardless of warranty validity. It takes 2 - 2.5 weeks from shipping out your camera to get it back repaired. Hope this resolves your issue as well!

The ISSUE is that the Clock Coin Battery expired inside the camera thereby not properly able to read data from the memory card.

Every time I turn my camera on it asks me to set the time zone, area I am in, date, etc...again. It's causing problems when I download pictures. They're all out of order. Even when I reset the date, time, etc. it always asks me to reset it every single time I turn on my camera.
