my D600 is totally screwed thanks to some viruses that have infected it!! i need to do a reformat but i dont have any installation cd's, laptop is a few years old using win pro! i went into cttrl / F11 as instructed but there is no option to do a restore, have tried everything that i can think of but nothing is working!! can anyone help me please??
The restore partition on the hard drive is no good .Therefore the best and easiest way to restore your system is to obtain a copy of the restore cd.You can call Dell tech support and inquire they will tell you the cost,or you can purchase a copy of XP and install it.You will also have to download the device drivers as well from the dell support website.
Good luck
you should download the operation cd for your system drivers and all then burn it on a disc then put in your pc then you restore it from there it should work 100%
Since the virus has taken it's toll, the F11 built in restore won't work. You will have to acquire an operating system disc in order to fix your problem. Unfortunately, there is no other way around it.

Monitor goes black (no green, no to flashlight test) even while we are working at fast pace and laptop is stationary. Monitor stays on (power light on), tried both crt and lcd monitors; same behavior. Can wiggle mouse or reboot to regain visual. Also when moving the laptop, screen flashes, both monitors. Cannot test with laptop monitor, as employee needs larger screen to do work and this is intermittent -- can happen 15+ x day or go 3 days with no problem.
