Either you push button switch is broken or your foot controller is fried inside. You can purchase both parts from ebay under PFAFF parts. Good luck

Could be a bad power switch. This can easily be purchased in ebay, just use it's search engine, there must be 10 at a given time.

How do you reach the push button switch on a pfaff 1222?. Is it from under the basae plate or do you remove the housing on top???

Hi - a few suggestions:

  1. May just need a good thorough service - generally a good idea to have it completely gone over - by an experienced Pfaff tech - every year or 2. Internal parts can dry out and simply get jammed.
  2. The timing could be off - again an experienced tech can take care of.
  3. The cam-stack (the part that actually makes your stitch formations) may have cracked. At the age of your machine, this isn't uncommon.
At the age of your machine, many other owners actually have it "rebuilt" by an authorized Pfaff service person. This model is one of those that's worth the investment compared to buying a new machine of the same caliber/quality.

If you are comfortable removing the top cover, you may be able to look at the internal parts to see if anything is broken. This will at least give you an idea of what may be happening.

Many authorized techs will not charge you to look at the machine and give you a quote. We'd suggest calling a few sewing machine stores in your area. Don't hesitate to ask friends for their recommendation of a good service person.

Hope this helps - please don't hesitate to respond if you need further info or clarification.

Happy sewing,

SOURCE: changing Pfaff 1222 sewing machine belt

Have a look at this: remove the top cover and have a look (don't put your fingers in !) at the plastic gear in the middle of the mechanism (left side of he selection keys). It often cracks and then the motor is able to turn the whole mechanism for part of the circumference of this gear and when it passes on the crack, it locks or slows down until the crack is passed. You need to have it changed if this is the case.

SOURCE: when I turn on my PFAFF 1222 it wont sew

It may be in bobbin filling mode. Can you turn the inner circular on the hand crank. If you can click it into position, this should engage the needle mechanism.

SOURCE: loose stitching on underside of

It is in your top threading, believe it or not. Sounds odd but it is. Try this, insert a new needle (flat side facing the rear of machine), totally rethread according to your manual or go to www.sewusa.com for a free threading diagram, make sure that your presser foot is up, now when you are totally threaded, with the presser foot still up, pull on the top thread, it should feed smoothly, put the presser foot down and pull the thread again, it should barely move. This should seat the thread in the tension discs. If that doesn't do it, I am afraid that you may need a repair shop. Good luck.

try changing the needle

Pfaff 1222 foot pedal

This indicates some sort of drive issue; your machine may have a belt that is worn or a bit stretched inside it connecting the flywheel to the engine.

But as a first check, does your machine have a bobbin winding clutch that you disenage by turning an inner knob on the flywheel? If yes, then just check that the clutch is fully engaged as this could also cause the drive loss.

Failing that, if your machine has not had a professionaly service in the past 2 years then probably worth taking it for one now and the mechanic can check out the drive components and adjust/replace.

I need a service manual for Pfaff model 1222e

You can download it from PFAFF service manuals in PDF formats. It may not mention an E or an SE after the model #1222 because the difference is just the motor rating and different feet it came with, the rest are all the same.
