Disc starts spinning and gets kind of loud and nothing coming up on tv.
My son wanted to play his xbox 360 last night and he turned it on and put a disc in and the disc started to spin but then when it was spinning it got a little loud , I mean the spinning got kind of loud and nothing came up on the tv. I tried restarting it a few times and doing different things but it keps on doing it. It seemed like it was scratching the disc too. Have you heard of this before?? Now today we tried it again and it stared working. I am really boggled by this. If you can help me I would reallly appreciate it. Thank You, Susan

If you have the new kinect xbox 360 dashboard and you cannot get your xbox 360 console to read your game discs or DVDs, you are not alone. An update that was recently applied through Xbox Live makes your discs unreadable. Remove the update by navigating to: System Settings->Memory->STOP HERE! You should see your Hard Drive highlighted, if not move to it and then enter this on your controller: X,LB,RB,X,LB,RB,X Delete System Update will appear, make sure there is no media in your disc drive and select YES. You system will restart and appear to hang DO NOT TURN IT OFF OR MESS WITH IT! After a couple minutes your system will start and you should be able to play discs again.
Please give more detail! No game in tray it says action not available? The Loud Sound, is this over the speakers or does it sound like the disc hitting the laser, or is it just the disc spinning normally?
You may want to try and disable autostarting to the disc, set it so when it turns on it loads the dashboard. Also if you are burning games, and your ixtreme version is wrong for that game type, i.e. wave 4 on ix1.4, you would see errors like this
I just found a post on this and it worked for me. My warranty is past. So I took matters in my own hands. I took it apart which was fairly simple cleaned the lens and surrounding areas but it didn't work. But this is what I found out its not reading the disk because the disk isn't spinning. With the box apart and drive open I put it back in the system and turned on the power I noticed the drive would spin slowly I then while the disk was trying to load I spun the disk by hand to help it along and wala it started spinning I powered down put it back together and as of 10:45 2night my gaming nightmare is over. I hope this was helpful. Good luck all!!

Similar problem here. Worked fine last night. This morning...every disc put in gets you a "unplayable" response. Does play DVDs though. Weird. Called xbox and they are sending us a box for repair. This is the second time sending it in. We had the ring of death crap before and had to send it in. It was in repair when Halo 3 came out. My son was having fits not being able to play it.
xbox is not on the top of my list as being a good, reliable gaming system.
no that's not good the motor is working over time you need it looked at quick or the moter will give up and then it will be a bigger job more money try thhttp://www.gamevania.com/XBOX_360/repair.phpis site first.
From what I no when the 360's light indicated flashes yellow it means it's overheated, try letting cool down. I have had so many problems with my 360 and the cdrom drive is number 1. When my drive started making all that noise i almost started to cry. What i did was called the Xbox Helpdesk and they fixed the problem right away. Call the Xbox Helpdesk at this number: 1-800-469-9269 (This munber will get you through faster). if you ahve any more questions just let me know....
