Question about Philips Gemini CDX-602 Dual CD Player with Jog Wheel, Looping, Auto-Callbration, Digital Output CD Player
Load a cd and occasionally won't cue up. Also makes a sound like a rubber band or spring being wound. And the total time remain has switched from remain, with the single play and countiuous readouts both lit.
I have had this problem as well and found out a couple of things in the process. The offending deck sometimes just does not find the proper cue marks on the disc. I have unplugged the interconnect cable and plugged it back it, this resets the unit and this appears to work for a few times.
However, I also opened the bottom unit and cleaned the laster lenses, we are in a dusty climate and the dust builds up no mater what you do to control it.
If you choose to clean the lenses, you will notice there is a gear near the openings of the laser. Turn off your unit and rotate the gear so the laser shows in the opening. Clean the lens, I used a little Windex and a cue tip. Rotate the gear so the lens is in the position it was before you moved it for cleaning.
