The bag full indicatior light comes on and my vacuum shuts off. I only use Electrolux bags and I have tried putting an unused bag in a few times--no luck! I took the hose off of the cannister and turned the vacuum on. The motor ran fine.No problem--but, when I put my hand over the place where the hose fits into the cannister, the machine shuts off and the bag full indicator light comes on. I repeated this a few times and always got the same results. I read somewhere that there is a sensor somewhere near where the bag fits inside the cannister. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks! It appears you have a bad control valve. My suggestion is to take it to your nearest Aerus dealer and have them replace it for you. You can find them by going to aerusonline.com and use their dealer locater. It shouldn't cost much to replace. You can disable it, but I don't suggest it. It is in place to protect you motor, and assuming you bought this machine new, you are aware of how much they cost. If you can't find a dealer locally, call the closest one and they may ship you the part. If you have to do it yourself, here is how. Open the front of the canister and remove the bag. As you are looking at the front of the unit, there are two vinyl covered strips that run the length of the unit. Pull forward on these strips and then pull out so that the vinyl separates from the plastic underneath. Now grab the plastic strip with a pair of needle nose pliers and pull towards the front of the canister. These can be tough if the machine has never been opened up before, but pull as hard as you need to, to slide the strip out. Once both strips are out, turn the machine over, pull out on the sides of the bottom of the unit, and lift up. The bottom should come off relatively easily, and everything will be exposed. The control valve rests under the bag housing, since the machine is now upside down. Pull the bag housing out, and the control valve will be right there. It's circular with vacuum lines connected to it. Just pull it out and move the vacuum lines to the new one, but be sure you get them in the right position!. It won't work if you don't. I hope this helps. Good Luck!!

Electrolux 2100 vac dies when you attach hose even with new bag.

If the bag full light keeps coming on, you can first try adjusting the dial on top of the vacuum cleaner. If that does not work, then you need to change the control valve. This is an internal component of the canister and is directly below the dial. You will need to follow the instructions on a previous post to open the Electrolux plastic canister vacuum, and remove the bage cage. Once you remove the bage cage you can change the control valve, and this will solve your problem with the bag full indicator.

I have an older Electrolux canister vacuum - model #2100 and the temperature sensor shuts down the motor. How to I take apart and clean?

Check to be certain the thermo lite is on and not the bag full indicator. The thermo detector is very reliable, but the bag fill valve often fails. If it is the thermo, check your hose and wand for blockage by dropping a coin through them, before opening the vac itself.Otherwise you may have a bad set of motor bearings causing the motor to overheat due to its age.
The 2100 and all its canister cousins made since 1982 seem to be prone to failure of the dial valve on top cracking internally. The causes the bag full indicator to come on and the vac to shut down.
To open the vac you will need to slide the locking keys and bumpers forward with the bag door open. Do this with a set of pliers. Once done the vac will open from front to back like a **** shell. Be careful to look at the underside hinge are of the bag door before separating and mark and locate the wiring harness . This vac only goes back together one way, perfectly assembled it pops together with ease. If any piece is out of line it`s like a RUBIKS Cube. Take your time . OEM parts are only available through an AERUS Elctrolux dealer or repair shop

Electrolux canister vaccum 2100

The filter for your Electrolux 2100 is located on the rear top of the machine. It is covered by a plastic grill. You simply place your finger in the rear of the plastic grill, push the tab in slightly and lift the grill up to expose the filter. The filter is approximately 4" by 6". It is NOT washable. Most Vac Shops sell replacement filters in addition to them being available at the local Electrolux distributor.

Electrolux Epic 6500SR Full Bag sensor working, Does not Reset properly

The problem was a sticking switch that was not being reset. The vacuum on/off switch mechanism is comprised of two switches. One is the main switch that turns the vacuum on and off. The second is a shut off switch that gets tripped when the full bag sensor is engaged. This second switch is supposed to get reset when you push the on/off switch on the outside of the machine. The full bag shutoff switch was stiff and it, therefore, was taking a couple of presses of the on/off switch to move the shutoff switch back into the running position.
