The screen your describe on your Garmin Nuvi is quite normal. It's the PC communication mode of the Nuvi. When disconnected from the PC it will automatically restart.

Hi i have a garmin nuvi 200 sat nav am trying to update it but did not get any conections with it can you tell me which connection i will need

You need a mini USB lead. It has a mini plug on one end that goes into the satnav where the charger plugs in. The other end has a USB plug that goes into the USB port of your computer. It's possible that you already have a lead like this as the same type is used to connect many other items to computers e.g. external hard drives, some cameras and camcorders etc.

If you want information on how to update your garmin satnav you'll find it at

If you want to back up your favourites folder from your satnav to your computer you'll find information on how to do that at

I do not have a lead to conect to computer

You will find these leads in many electrical shops or on ebay.

Have a look at what other electronic devices you have, ie mobile, mp3 player, camera, ebook, a lot of them use the mini usb leads.

The filter is probably blocked.

It is inside the base of the machine.

Take out the filter and clean it and also clean out the filter well as that can also hold quite a bit of debris.

How concect garmin nuvi 205w to laptop

You connect the satnav to your computer with a mini USB lead. It should have come with the satnav. The narrow end goes in the back of the satnav, where the power lead goes in the car, and the USB end goes in a USB socket on your computer.

If you didn't get a mini USB lead with your satnav you may already have one for something else. They come with many digital cameras, camcorders, smart phones, external hard drives etc.

If you don't have one any computer store should be able to sell you one.

Nuvi 250 will not turn on when charging.

There are two types of leads that you can buy.

The one supplied with the Garmin expects you to plug the GPS into the PC via the USB and if you use this to try and charge your Garmin in your car it will think it is connected to the PC and show the connection screen. it will charge the unit but you can't see the map.!!!

Make sure that you buy a lead specially for the Garmin for use in the car its the only type of SAT NAV that you will have this problem with.

Garmin 660 wont operate on power lead

Are you using the Garmin AC adapter or the Garmin car adapter? Using the wrong cable and the Garmin will think that you are trying to connect to a computer. Not all USB cable are alike.

When connected to your computer it thinks that you want to upload or donwload information.
