The lid switch need replacing or adjusted. When the lid is down something pushes the switch down. It could be back at the hinge or a slot elsewhere in the top.

Sounds like the lid safety switch is either out of adjustment, or needs replacement.

Most washers will fill with the lid open, but no continue a cycle where the drum or agitator spin, unless it senses the lid is closed.

For awhile now i have been having to slam the lid to get the load to finish after it first fills up with water. Now today even slamming the lid wont work. HELP

you have 2 screws on each side of the lid, make sure they are thight. one side of the hinge activate the lid switch. if that dont work then you damage the lid switch. replaced.
