My brothers laser printer is having the same problem as others. I replaced the cartridge but the toner light continues to stay on and the printer will not print. I tried the reset process described by other users but it was not successful. Any suggestions
Ok, I’m going to try and explain this without pictures: Take out the toner and look at it. One end has 2 silver screws in it. As you are looking at the toner from the front (transfer roller pointing at you) the screws are to the right. Remove these screws and so remove the face-plate. There is a white gear-wheel (without cogs/teeth) that looks a little like a Y. This simply lifts off; behind it is also a metal spring. Remove this gear and the spring. Now replace the face-plate and the 2 screws without the gear and the spring. That’s it. Put the toner back in and print until no longer possible as the light will not show when it really is empty. Hope this helps.

You can remove the drum and toner, remove toner from the drum unit then gently rock the toner from side to side for about six times to distribute the toner inside, then on the drum unit slide the green tab on the upper left hand from left to rigth for about six times and then put it back to the home position. Reinstall the toner back to the drum unit and then put the drum and toner back to the printer. closed the front cover. the toner light should turn off,
Hope this helps.
First of all, I checked the answers given here, but nothing worked; everytime I turned on the unit, the red light flashed that the printer was out of paper.
From the Brother's HL-2070 manual, in the troubleshooting section: take out the toner cartridge from the front of the machine (be careful, any black toner powder that come off may be very difficult to clean up). I took the toner cartridge to the sink.
There is a blue slide along the top of the unit that will clean the corona wire if you slide it back and forth, from one end to the other (toner/dust can become caked on the wire over time; sliding the slider back and forth simply knocks the caked off 'stuff' off of the wire).
Replace the toner cartridge; it worked fine for me. I was immediately able to print.
Try this.... 1: Turn off power and remove toner/drum 2: Tape the little spring loaded lever just inside the printer on the upper left hand side in the *DOWN* position! Do not replace drum yet and... 3: Turn power on to printer and let it cycle. Status/Toner lights will come on as usual. 4: Turn off printer, remove tape from lever, replace drum and turn back on.
It depends upon the number of prints you have done since Feb and the toner cartridge capacity. Some toner cartridges have 2500 page capacity others have 5000 pages or more.
If you think you have not exceeded or reached the cartridge capacity, take it out of the printer and give it a shake in a horizontal position to distribute the toner evenly across the drum and place it back in the printer. This also works when the toner is nearly empty.
(blinking every 5 seconds)
Indicates that the toner cartridge is nearly empty. Purchase a new toner and have it ready for when Toner Empty is indicated.
Replace the toner cartridge with a new one.
