The plastic lugs to the lid and edges of the battery case on the camera have broken ,this is causing the lid to not close properly

yep, happens to most all of them eventually. mine has broken twice. i had it repaired at the camera shop and the next time i put in new batteries it broke again. i'm sticking to a piece of tape. i've seen you can buy the replacement door online and i've seen the instructions for replacing it yourself via a google search.

How do I replace my FUJI S1000 S1000FD BATTERY DOOR COVER LID CAP

I bought a new door but the part that broke was on the box, not the door. So I made a hole big enough for a screw to go trough and screwed it.

Camera is not switching on even after full charging battery.

I have an S610 that would sometimes not turn on or randomly turn off. I bought a replacement battery to see if that was the problem but no change. I noticed that if I firmly pressed the battery compartment lid the camera would operate fine, but wiggling the lid would make the camera turn off. I discovered there is a small lever inside the battery compartment that the lid depresses. So my solution was to attach something to the small plastic tab on the lid to help it depress the lever._357.jpg

The cover on the battery and SD card opening on the camera broke off and couldn't be found on the ground. A small piece of cover and the hinge are still on the camera. When the camera is turned on a...

I imagine the only way to obtain a proper part is to send it to an approved Olympus service centre, hopefully under warranty (though I expect they would not regard this as covered).

The camera must have some way of telling that the door is open. Is there a tiny switch on the catch, or behind a little hole that something on the lid poked through? If so, perhaps you could jam it. Maybe there is a reed switch that was activated by a magnet in the lid.

I don't really see why this should be an issue for the camera to worry about, as long as things aren't falling out. My high-end Lumix pays no attention to hatches being open.

Battery life does not last.

The rechargeable battery has come to the end of its life. You'll need to replace the battery and let the new battery go through a complete charge cycle before using.

Battery lid or cover

I have a s5500 with the battery lid clips broken.. fuji says ,, nope no warranty on that part ,, what a joke,,$120 dollars labour plus parts and freight for repair... anyway ,, went to jaycar (electrical supplies etc) and found a small metal clip/ fastener that I used on an existing exterior screw below where the strap is located. i then placed another screw in the lid that allows the remainding hole in the fastener to slip over, works like a charm. took me around 3 minutes to do and does not affect the grip on the camera and still alllows it to be easily opened and closed. I am most pleased i now have my camera back.

Brazil: No Sanyo technical assistance for digital cameras; what should I do?

Even in a Sanyo area where they do market cameras - I doubt if anything could be done- these things are made all of a piece - if its broke it stays broke. However -I am guessing here - I imagine Brazil has a high humidity climate. And high humidity is a killerr for this type of goods. Try the following. Take out batteries and with the eraser on the end of a pencil gently rub the battery contact at the base of the battery compartment. Do the same with the contact in the compartment lid. Take the card out and do the same with those contacts - very very gently. Now put the camera and the batteries[but loose not in the camera] and the card in a poly bag With some of those little bags of silica gel that things like cameras come in. or a small cloth bag filled with dry rice grains- suck the air out of the bag -bind it up tight and leave somewhere warm but dry for a couple of days. Then when you consider it has dried out - put it together and see if it will work. Come back let me know what happens

Not turning on

Hello Ariel, You need a new battery lid. The problem is the lid has a pin that when closed properly, allows the battery to power up the camera. You can get one for $30.00 on Ebay item number 7623965577 if you act fast. This is a good camera and would be worth $30.00 (plus 5.50 shipping) to fix it. Please let me know how it works. Best regards, nightdiver
