Question about MP3 & Digital Media Players

1 Answer

I plugged in a recently bought Technika MP£ (MP-508) to the PC and it showed an error and would not recognise the set. Despite disconnecting and re-booting the computer I cannot get any glimmer of action to set this up, I have also tried resetting the MP3 in case the 'electrostatic' issue mentioned in the instructions was the problem but to no avail. I cannot find the device on My Computer either. There does not appear to be any set up files on the mini CD with it - HELP please!!

Contacted the support number as nothing heard on your site, it seems there is a problem with some Technika MP3 Players that the system for setting up on the computer has been corrupted. the result is that the computer cannot recognise the MP3 as a drive. alas I have to return the item and have been advised for now not to buy a Technika MP3 until the problem has been resolved.

I hope this may help anyone else with the same problem, they need to contact the support help line

COBY MP-610 File System Error

COBY MP-610 Digital Media Player File System Error Solution

Replacing the firmware of your Coby 610 MP3 Player will unfreeze it and help it act normally again. This will also fix the 'File System Error' that has been popping up with some Coby 610 players. You can find it at the cobyusa.com website by choosing 'Mp3 & Portable', then 'Mp3 & Mp4 Players', then your model 'MP610', from the support page. Or, here is the direct link to the file from Coby's servers.

Unpacking the archive from the Coby Website will give you a PDF file with instructions, and a program file to run.

Your music will be erased when you run this firmware update. The instructions suggest that even if your mp3 player won't startup properly, if you plug it into your computer you should be able to access it as a removable disk, and copy all your music to a temporary folder on your computer.

Here are the steps:

  1. Plug your MP610 into your computer.
  2. Copy all your music to a temporary folder.
  3. Disconnect your MP610 from your computer.
  4. Disconnect as many USB devices as possible from your computer (to simplify identifying the MP610 at a later step, and avoid damaging other devices by trying to load the MP610 firmware into them by mistake.)
  5. Run the Firmware Update program 'MP610 T LCD Firmware Update for file sys err.exe'
  6. You will see a screen with up to 24 numbered, empty boxes.
  7. Connect the MP610 to your computer. It will show up in one of the boxes.
  8. Once the MP3 player shows up, click on the Firmware Feature icon to start the firmware upgrade.
  9. After the firmware update is complete, you will receive a checkmark in the firmware box.
  10. Disconnect the MP610.
  11. Close the firmware update software.
  12. Turn on the 610 to confirm it starts up and the display reads 'COBY'.
  13. Plug it back into your computer and copy your music back on to it.

MP-GT1 keeps connecting and disconnecting from PC

The problem lools like the MP-GT1 is drawing to much current from the USB port. Try using a lead from a 2 1/2" external Hard Drive that has 2 USB plugs to connect the MP-GT1 to the PC. The MP-GT1 can then source 1000ma of current for charging.

No music file showying on MP-BT1

Just check they are not located inside a folder on your MP-BT1. If so, drag files out of their folders and then delete the folders and MP-BT1 will then recognise them!

When i plug in my new mp-308 it just comes up with the word technika and not the do not remove screen

I had this problem when I bought mine 2 days ago. I was about to take it back to Tesco when I tried to just charge it using a car cigar lighter socket to usb converter. Again it came up with Technika on the screen but this was soon replaced by the word "Charging".

I let it charge for a while and was then able to use the device as per the instructions.

It appears that the device cannot be used without being charged up slightly beforehand. I bought my 12v adapter for £3 - it's worth a try.

Zmate mp3 not recognised

Try a different cord, USB port, and bypass any splitters if used. Then try another USB support driver in Device manager.
