All of the sudden (from one day to the next) the sound ceased and at the speaked icon on the right low corner appears a white cross on red base saying "No Audio Output Device is Installed"; Sound was OK for two years and I use sound daily. I tried to put the system back before yesterday date (when the sound was working) but somehow an ERROR message always appeared so I am stuck with today's system without sound.

on the tiny page at the right hand top corner is three symbols - {squares} and a white cross x in a red box.
Move the mouse pointer over the square boxes and click the left mouse button this should maximise the window.

Before trying to open the photo, right click on icon.
Select 'open with'
Small box opens with choices.
Select 'windows photo viewer' or whichever program commonly used on your device.

Another solution can be system restore. With windows 7, go to start button, search bar appears at bottom, search for system restore, system restore appears at top, click on system restore and follow steps to restore computer to previous date when computer was functioning correctly.

1. To select an English speaking voice

• Press TOOLS (The spanner icon on the bottom right corner of the page showing WHERE TO and VIEW MAP)
• Press SETTINGS (Top left icon)
• Press LANGUAGE

This brings you to a screen with 3 items; VOICE, TEXT LANGUAGE and KEYBOARD
Press VOICE and select an English speaking voice.

2. Since it changed itself it's possible that the English voice file is corrupted and may need to be replaced. To replace a voice file you first need to;

• Download and install the latest version of WEBUPDATER to your computer from http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27
• Connect your satnav to the computer and run the Webupdater program
• Webupdater will search for updates to your satnav operating system. Accept any updates it finds and they will be installed. When the update is complete it will offer you optional updates including VOICE FILES.
• Tick the English speaking voice files you want to select them and click "continue" or "next" They will be downloaded to your satnav.
• You then need to repeat the process described in paragraph 1 above to select an English speaking voice.

Go into your main menu and scroll down to picture. Next scroll down to convergence press select. A white cross should appear on your screen the object is to converge all the crosses into one untill all the crosses appear as one white cross. The onscreen directions will tell you exactly how to do this. Next press continue and several little white crosses will appear across your screen. Do the same for each one of these white crosses. This should solve your problem.

Hello there, it appears that your speaker has been disabled. Go ahead and right-click on the speaker icon(picture), then select enable. Hope this will help.

I had this problem for months - I finally figured it out on my own...

Go to your RealTek HD Audio Manager (this is either a red speaker icon in the bottom right hand corner or if you go to 'control panel, sounds speak and audio devices, realtek hd sound effect manager)

once you have the window open, under 'sound effect, go to environment and to the right of the drop down menu, click 'RESET'.

After months of trying to fix this issue, this fixed it for me!!! I hope it does for you too!

try re-setting the unit by the re-set botton on the back or side of the unit depending on the model
