The carbon filter is not critical, but it helps and keeps odors down.

They cannot be cleaned, so if yours were bad, you would want to discard it.

The manual will tell you the interval and how to tell when it is clogged, etc.

Please reply back with your brand and model number so we can help you locate the proper filter for your model.

If it is vented back into the room a filter is necessary, otherwise it just circulates the steam and cooking odors into the room. The unit is not sold with a carbon filter because it is not known if it will be vented outside or not. I'm not sure where the least expensive place to purchase one is.

No you are not supposed to remove it. (and Yes I did too!!) BUT if you did remove it, call the manufacturer and if you get a really nice person, they will send you a new one via mail....if not, you can buy a new one at any major appliance supply store...wrtie down your make, model# and then call around for prices....

My Samsung Microwave model number CE 1111TL is howing a error and at times the keypad doesnt function . What is the cheapest way to fix it .Thanks

The only way possible to see if the touch pads are working is to test the voltage of the control pads when it contacts. The input of the Microprocessor should be checked for the pad control impulse to come in. If there is no trigger voltage to the mP this can be the control pad problem.
The mP must be checked for the working voltage and also the frequency oscillation at the crystal leads. If so the mP is working with a suspected control pads which are not able to set the program or timing.
There is no way but to remove the sticker pad and replace, One difficult way to have a chance is to remove the carbon sticker pads and check continuity , You can use a carbon pen to line the tracks so that the multi-meter reads a continuity. With this you can have a temporary fix

Hi can u pls send me installation manual for Whirlpool for Ikea 90cm cooker hood HOO D10S with carbon filters. Thank you :)

Most major manufacturers supply manuals online so if you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, you may be pleasantly surprised as usually, if available, one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, Dealer Network for spare part supplies as required.

The information is normally free of charge.

I hope this helps.

Need to clean upper filter, not bottom filter, does grille pop out?

Yes the grill pops out. It snaps in to place. Behind there is a Carbon Filter, and cannot be washed. The internet says the should be changed every 3 to 6 months, yet we use our microwave once a week and change mine every 9 months.
The carbon filter elimiates smoke, odors and grease build up on cabinets and walls.

We buy filters from HoodFilterFactory because they can make any size we need.

I hop this helps

Why double filter on Maytag Microwave

If your range hood or microwave recirculates back in to the room.

Both filters are required. The mesh filter catches the grease & air particulate. The carbon filter should be changed regularly www.HoodFilterFactory.com ( avoid range fires that spread quickly) & clears the recirculated air from smoke, odors, & airborne particulate.

With yours venting to the outside, you ONLY need the mesh filter. These filters should be cleaned regularly ( Avoid mentioned hazard) & should be replaced when you can no longer clean them enough to see through them when holding up to the light.

Good Luck

My Model NN-9859 microwave blew a fuse. I replaced the fuse and it blew again.I tested what I think is a diode HVR-1X4 ( from the main capacitor to earth) with a multimeter and it appears open circuited....

The component described is a resistor rather than a diode and is how the capacitor is grounded (to the chassis). It is possible to replace this, however it is a high voltage resistor (rather than your regular carbon film or wirewound ones).

The cost for the part will be around £5 ($7-10) and can usually be purchased from specialist electronic component supplies such as RS or CPC - your local microwave repair shop may even have some there!

How do you install the carbon filter on GE model 1540. I can not get the grill off. There are supposed to be screws but none are visible

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

Your full model number (
like JVM1540SMSS for example) is on the tag in the cavity of the oven.

On some models the screws are in the front of the grille, and on some models they are on the front edge of the top cover of the microwave above the grille.

If yours is the latter, hopefully the installation was done correctly so these were not covered up!

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

I need a charcoal filter

The GE spec sheets for what is the right charcoal filter are incorrect. You will never find the right one. I have this same microwave and had same problem. I called a local appliance company and they gave me Part No. WB06X10359 and when I googled this part it was not the right dimensions. I finally found the perfect solution. Go to www.rangehoodsfilter.com (Filter Factory-TTN Inc.) and they are customing making the filter for me. I spoke to Dave this morning from Filter Facotry and he's making me one with the following dimensions - 5 7/8" x 13 1/4" x 1/4". The cost is $16.95. If this fits I will order more. The more you order, the cost per unit goes down.

LG Microwave does not heat

I would suspect the magnetron as well. But take that HV Diode somewhere. It's the cheapest part! (A local TV shop may have a low ohm meter to check it out with as well as an appliance shop)Here is what I tell people on replacement. If the cost of the replacement part(s) PLUS labor time costs exceed 50% of the cost of the unit, get a new unit. It holds true with all our "throw away electronics. A shame too. On the question regarding the Ebay purchase, personally, I would never trust a part sold on Ebay as a "New" fresh off the shelf part. They are usually New, stale off the shelf, perhaps dropped a few times, scratch and ding parts. In electronic components, that usually does not phase them. Larger electronic devices like magnatrons, it may. Shop smart. Find appliance part dealers near you first. Once something electronic is sold on Ebay, it's yours, wether it works or not. Especially if it's imported.
