Question about Maytag PYE2300AY Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Maytag pve2300 I'll try this again! The first expert said take off the back panel to get to the belt. There is no back panel. I wrote back again and no one else replied, and it's been more than 48 hours. I would like for someone that knows what they are talking about to write me back and explain in detail how to get to the belt that turns the drum. Thanks, Derrick

There should be two clips on each side in the front of the dryer on the top panel, holding the top down. Use a small flat screwdriver and slip it between the top and the front panel and gently push the clips in while lifting up on the top. It hinges upwards to the rear. now look in the dryer, where the front panel attaches to the cabinet and remove the two screws holding the front panel in place. disconnect the door switch wires and swing front panel away from the dryer ( it hinges at the bottom ).Remove the front panel. The belt goes around the drum and the motor pulley, then grap the idler tension pulley and run th excess length of the belt around it. The spring tension should keep the belt on. roll the drum to make sure all is lined up and the belt won't slip off when first powered up.Reassemble in reverse order. ALLWAYS UNPLUG MACHINE BEFORE WORKING ON IT!!! Good luck. BpB

How to remove top and front panel on Maytag Dryer model MDE9206AYW

To access these parts you first need to first lift the top up. This is done by pressing the clips inward. These are located on the left and right side in between the top and front on the dryer. When this is done the top will left up and backwards. Next, on the upper inside there are two screws, usually 5/16" bolts, that will need to removed to take the front off. Now you'll will access to the inside of the dryer. The belt will have to be removed to to take the drum out to test the rollers.

When I push the start button I only get a whirring noise on any of the settings and the machine won't start.

Hi,
This could be the motor turning but the belt being broken. If you are mechanical inclined, you can investigate the inside of the machine, and see if the belt is broken. Replacement is not too difficult.
Any questions and I'll be more than happy to give more instruction

Dryer heats, but won't tumble. Suggestions?

Either there is no tension on the belt or the motor is not running. If you don't hear the motor, the first thing to check is whether any air blows out the vent. If you have air moving, the motor is OK and you can check for a broken belt or a problem with the tensioner pulley mounted on the motor bracket. First, reach inside the dryer and try to turn the drum by hand. If it turns very easily, belt tension is definitely the problem. If you can't turn it at all and the dryer was previously making a lot of noise, the drum has crashed due to a bad bearing or bushing pad. A stuck drum can also ruin a belt.

On most dryers, you can remove the panel under the door to look at the motor and belt tensioner. Usually you have to take off the floor trim piece way down at the bottom, then remove the screws holding the panel. The top of the panel is commonly held in place with spring clips.

On some models you have to undo screws at the back near the top, then tilt the top up like the hood on a car (there are spring clips holding the front of the top; you may need to pry with a thin piece of hardwood or a screwdriver with tape wrapped around the shaft to protect the paint on the dryer). This gives you access to clips and screws holding the front onto the dryer. If you have a broken belt, you'll need to remove the front (door assembly) anyway to replace the belt or drum bearing. (Some models have a drum bushing on a center pin in the back of the dryer; you can get at these by removing a plate on the back).

If the tensioner pulley has a lot of slop in the bearing, fix this; otherwise the belt may wobble off it again. You'll be surprised by how much quieter the dryer gets.

If the motor is not running, check for a failed starter capacitor (located inside the control panel), a bad centrifugal switch (inside the motor), bad contacts in the timer (control panel), or an open thermal fuse in the motor.

CAUTION: unplug the dryer before doing any work inside.

Maytag gas dryer. Belt broken. How do I open and replace it?

On the right front and left front of the panel there are 2 phillips head screws. They are about 4 inches up from the floor. Remove these 2 screws, lift the door panel out then down to dislodge the top clips. Remove the door switch wires and set the door aside. Remove 4 screws from the front drum support. @ on the right,2 on the left. Remove the drum support.Install the belt around the drum. The smooth side of the belt goes against the drum. Re-attach all the parts in front. Remove the belt access panel on the rear of the dryer on the bottom right side facing the dryer to arrange the belt around the motor pulley and tension roller.

Just moved, dryer won't tumble with a load. Error code PF

Did it get tipped in the move? I don't know about the specific model of Maytag, but on my old Kenmore the belt that ran the drum also had a wheel and kind of like a pulley that it had to seated on in order for the belt to stay centered on the drum and turn properly.I don't know how you get the shell off the front to get at the drum, the Kenmore had screws that you had to take out and lift the control panel off and then back to get at the inside. Sorry

Maytag dryer model pve

I could not find the moder number in any maytag list, all I can do is posting general guidelines, like this one here:
online guide Clik here.
Generally to remove a belt in an electric maytag dryer you unscrew thescrews at the base of the front side of of the machine to remove thefront panel.
Then the topc omes up.
Thenyou remove the rear access panel and remove the tension on the belt. Getthe drum out, clean the dryer, eventually oil wheels and rollers, and re install the drum ensuring the belt ison right side and not twisted.
