Checking if a Printer is installed on Ubuntu.

Go to the Printers window (System > Administration > Printing), if you find the printer you are looking for, it's installed.
If you can't find your printer, i answered a question on how to install a printer on Ubuntu earlier, check it out.

Please rate my solution,
Thank you.

I got an HP printer and I need to know how to install it with ubuntu

Hello,
You can easily install it with the Hewlett-Packard's Linux Imaging and Printing software (HPLIP). HPLIP is a tool that can easily be installed to add any printer HP has to offer depends on your ubuntu build. here is a tutorial to install any HP printer.

Ubuntu forums has a little help to offer for desk-jets don't let them confuse you read first and see if the problem is resolved. then type in the commands to install from what they offer.

Installing printer in Linux

Manually Installing a New Locally Connected Printer and Printer Driver When Ubuntu detects a printer it will automatically select a driver if the printer is recognized and a driver is available. To manually add a printer, begin by clicking on the New button in the Printer configuration toolbar. A Please Wait. Searching for Printers dialog will appear as the system is scanned for a locally attached printer. Once the search is complete, the New Printer Wizard dialog will appear including an entry for each detected printer. In the following figure, Ubuntu has detected an HP DeskJet printer connected to a USB port:

Select the desired locally connected printer from the list in the left hand panel and click the Forward button to select the appropriate printer driver. On the resulting screen select the printer manufacturer and choose the model from the list. Click on the Forward button to install the appropriate driver for the printer:

Once the printer driver matching the printer has been selected, click the Forward button and enter the optional printer description and location information. You should be returned to the Printers dialog where your new printer should be listed.
Once the driver is installed you are ready to try out the printer. In the Printers dialog select your printer, right click with the mouse to pop up the menu and select Properties. Click on Print Test Page to send a test page to the printer.

Ubuntu Change Root Password

Nelson,

This is the way i do it, maye there's an other way.

Ubuntu has no set password for the root user. The defult root password is your own user password, the password you set for the first user while installing Ubuntu.

These are the steps to change the password -

1.Applicatons > Accessories > Terminal.
2.In the new window that opens write "sudo passwd".
3.the system will ask for the new root password.
